I would think the AD would submit his eligibility forms to the Principal in as accurate condition as possible. The administrator really does not have time to check eligibilities. he delegates that to his AD and works from that position. That's how it is done most places.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.....Great Point

bucksfan08 wrote:at Ny the principal and vice principal do all the eligibility work. Plus why woudl boston rick a season if he knew the boy was ineligible?
bucksfan08,
I am pretty sure, that it is also the responsibility to know the players eligibilty by the coach. I bet most of the TVC Ohio School, head coaches know the status of there players. Wouldn't you want to know the status of all your players on the team, if you were a Head Football Coach?

How difficult is it, to implement a checklist by the staff. And receive a report and status on all the players?
Excuses are what gets schools into trouble like this episode.

Thus losing 6 games this season instead of 4. Correct me if I am wrong. The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes lost on the field to Columbus Bishop Ready from the CCL, Crooksville from the MVL, Glouster Trimble from the TVC Hocking and Belpre from the TVC Ohio right? And now due to this situation two forfiet losses to Chesire River Valley from the OVC and Wellston from the TVC Ohio. So, instead of a 6-4 2007 Football Record, your Schools Record now for 2007 football season is 4-6.

Man, I don't know about you, but I sure would want both my AD and Coaches to know the academic status of all my football players. From grades 7-12 within the Program.

MY God ARMY are you retarded!
AT NY IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBLITY OF THE AD OR THE COACHES TO CHECK ELIGIBILITY. They submit a roster, that is checked on by the vice principals office then the ad and the coaches are notified by this list.
If a player is on that list they sit out period. Kids sit out every week because we are the only school in our league and one of the only in the state that check the kids eligibility weekly and also drug test our kids. A mistake was made by the principals office. If you dont like NY football or Coach Boston, then come out and say that. If you cant understand what your reading then we will have to keep letting you know that AT NY ITS NOT THE COACHES OR AD'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK THE GRADES OF TRANSFERING STUDENTS. I CAN TELL YOU THAT HE DOES EVEN THOUGH THAT IS NOT HIS RESPOSIBILITY KEEP WEEKLY CHECKS ON STUDENTS THAT MAY BE DOING POORLY AND HOLDS STUDY TABLES FOR THEM 4 DAYS A WEEK. The problem was with a kids grades from his previous school. He was told the athlete was ok to participate by the principals office. From that point on the coach checks his grades weekly to see if he is eligible each monday to participate that week.
Please read over this several times so a least when you get on here to rip someone, you will be able to rip the right person. Remember the way you do it at your school isnt the way they may do it at other schools.
Army we had to forfiet two games and Have a 4-6 record.
You guys didnt have to forfiet and had a 4-6 record.
Ours was because of a mistake on paper not because we put a weak football team on the field.
I see where you have been on the TVC latley. Dont you think you should worry about things in the SEOAL.
Shouldnt you walk the walk before you talk the talk.

From someone who has coached at NY in the past, it was not my responsibility to determine who was eligible and who was not. The principal took care of all of this (NOT THE AD THE PRINCIPAL).
PEOPLE LET IT GO!! It seems that the Non-NY people are the ones who are not letting this go. I have not heard one NY person say we did not do something wrong. We got our punishment and we are looking forward to next year and rooting on our beloved Buckeyes. Maybe some of you should do this with your beloved team also.

the whole shampoo incident is nothing but the truth. trust me i go to alexander. and my parents were fans of the program when boston was in charge. and while trying not to sound disrespectful he did allow the shampoo incidents to occur, thus leading to boston leaving. He left because he was a good guy? i dont know. thats just your own opinion.
orestes
i know that this is a topic of debate, but some of the things just go too far.
buckeye96
i credit you for getting on here and saying that. theres not a whole lot of people on here who has enough class.
the punishment was given. let it go. NY people who want to place the blame on Alexander for not telling anyone, IT IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILTY. and for whoever said i dont care about this whole thing, your right yet your wrong. i do care because i played against NY my whole life including this year. but yet i dont see what the big deal is. thats why im sayin some people need to grow up on here. i completely agree with buckeye96 about this site not being the same. but thats just me.

We (NY) was picked to finish 3rd and some picked us 4th. It was supposed to be VC's year with Meigs in second. For us to finish above the predictions, I say "good job Bucks". Definitely not great because some people in Buckeye Nation take a 4-6 record "UNACCEPTABLE".
Will this fiasco make us better...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT !!!!! Both in the office and on the field.
With the addition of Ironton and possible Shadyside, it will make 6 home games for the Bucks.
Everybody practices in August, I hope our boys are practicing now by working in the weightroom to increase SPEED and strength.
My Vikings are getting beat on Monday Nigh Football so I got to go.
GO BUCKS AND VIKINGS...Minnesota that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally wouldn't want my son playing on one of Boston's teams. He's too good for everyone anyway. Have you ever seen any other coaches that don't speak to opposing coaches before a game? Like I said he's too good to do that. He's above everyone. He even tried that game with the (TRUE state powerhouse) Amanda-Clearcreek coach in 04'....the payoff wasn't so good for him or his team. He refused to exchange tapes with AC before the playoff game....nice move! You can't play those kind of Mickey Mouse games against a real football coach with a real football team. The bottom line is that he was turned in because he is an arrogant jerk! If he wasn't, I'm sure he wouldn't have been turned in at all!!! Again, the payoff isn't looking too good in his favor!By the way Orestes, looks like Ready and Crooksville already found HUGE chinks in the armor of the Buchtel boys!! Anytime they play a real (not imagined...like Buchtel thinks of themselves) they get pounded. They are not anywhere on the big picture in the state of Ohio. However, they are probably the best team in Athens county! Tradition doesn't graduate! Congrats on continually winning the TVC title...arguably the weakest league in the entire state. Like I said before' you all see what happens against REAL opponents. 1-9 Crooksville (last place in the MVL) thrashed Buchtel. Ironton.....get real! I wonder if Boston will try to impress Lutz with his overwhelming arrogance? I wonder how that payoff will work for him! BTW...they didn't turn themselves in. They were contacted by Alex and told that if they don't turn themselves in....that they would be turned in by the Alex administration. That is what really happened. Someone commented that Arno was chubby. I don't think so. Even so, he still benches 400 pounds and doesn't take too kindly to arrogant people!!! His coaching should also never be challenged.. give him Boston's numbers and you'd see in short order a team recognized around the entire state. Buchtel did have some success statewide at one time, but it's been 30 years ago. Get off of yourselves. I know...my Rocket's were way down this year...you don't have to remind me. but we don't claim to be the next coming like Buchtel does!!! Do you know the difference between Dave Boston and God?............God doesn't think he's Dave Boston!!!

Wow, jealousy sure runs rampant among some people! If the TVC OHIO is "arguably the worst league in the state" and Wellston finishes dead last in the standings, does that mean Wellston is "arguably the worst team in the state?" Just using your logic!
I will tell you this.....everyone at NY is glad to have Coach Boston at the helm for the Buckeyes! NY has only had three coaches in school history, and they are all from the Boston family. All of them have led the Buckeyes to TVC Championships and Playoff appearances. NY rallies around the Buckeyes. Our fans come out in droves and we have privately raised the money for athletic field rennovations. This is something that some wealthier districts cannot even achieve, yet it is something NY is doing.
Some people should spend more time improving their own football programs instead of bashing programs who continually beat them on the field.
I said this earlier and I'll say it again.......why keep posting on this thread? I have yet to see a Wellston poster post on the TVC 2008 thread about predictions for next season. I guess when you don't have hopes for your own team, you have to avoid that topic and continually bash others.
One of the Ohio State blogs states, "Why does everyone dog the Buckeyes??? JEALOUSY!" I think the same could be said for some people who bash the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes. http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/70557
So instead of running your mouth and bashing NY, go out and improve your own team. You need all the help you can get. I mean you did finish in last place in "arguably the worst league in the state".

Coach Boston is so worried that his competitors dont like him that he only gets 8 hours a sleep each night. He has been checking his mail box and hasnt got any christmas cards this year.
He wins football games! Period. He even made a winner out of Alex the only time since the 70's. I guess A good coach will win anywhere and not make excuses about his numbers or where he is.

I have been reading this thread with some interest. I am not from NY but I have known and respected a lot of people from there. You have a Great Football tradition. You always have had a huge fan base, and that comes from winning. It doesn't start when the kids are freshman, it comes from your youth programs, with a lot of time and effort involved with the unpaid Coachs that give up their time to work with these young players. It is very sad that your whole team was punished for this mistake. It not like that any High School player is being paid to play, they do it for the true love of the game. Not many go on to play after High School, and the memories the will have lasts a life time. I am not trying to say what it right and what is wrong soo much, but feel sorry for the Seniors on this team. I have always enjoyed playing NY, and yes I want to will against you all, but after all it is just a game played by kids.Life throws us a curve sometimes, but like everything else, this too will pass. Good luck to you guys( until you play my team) Viking
I've been watching this thread also, but not with much interest. What a bunch of cry baby whiners. For the last time, NY didn't do any thing that could effect the outcome of a game. Get over it. Not in your life time will any of you people that would gladly except a WIN under these circumstances will achieve the credibility and integrity that NY sports already has.

I can say without a doubt that Coach Boston will try to get 10 wins in the regular season next year. I can promise you that if he is leading by 3 touchdowns late in the game the younger kids will play. He hasnt run up a score intentionally, any year he has ever coached and will not start next year. I dont care who we are playing. A win is a win and getting younger kids experience is more important than running up a score. There is nothing better than letting your reserves and freshman play in a game. When you have freshmen in when your leading the other team knows its over. You dont have to put 60 on a team for them to know that.
Our younger kids can continue to look forward to playing in games that have been decided before the clock runs out.
On a side note: I will not get on here and put my own league down. I have always played in the TVC and have always coached in the TVC. I like our Small school league here in SEO and I am proud when we win it and give credit to the teams that win it. We always have teams wanting in but seldom want to leave. I cant believe the posters from our league wanting to admit its the weakest in the state. Just 3 years ago we had 3 teams, NY, Wellston and Vinton make the playoffs. They may not have won in the playoffs but our small league did put 3 out of 5 teams in. For a rural ohio area I think our leagues, the TVC OHIO and HOCKING serve our teams just fine.
Merry Christmas to all the kids and kids at heart out there.
Go Buckeyes!
