Chillicothe placed two players in double figures, led by Anthony Hitchens 18 markers. Big Ray Chambers added 10 points and had for blocked shots and picked off eight rebounds for the winners.
Chillicothe sank 19 of 39 field goal attempts for 48.7 percent. CHS was two of 11 behind the arc. CHS sank 11 of 18 free throws for 61.1 percent and had 15 personals. The Cavs picked off 27 rebounds, led by Chambers’ eight snags. Chillicothe had 16 steals, six by Seth Dawes, 10 assists, six by Caleb Knights and committed 13 turnovers.
Gallipolis connected on nine of 33 field goal attempts for 36.6 percent. GAHS was seven of 11 at the foul line for 63.6 percent. Gallipolis picked off 29 rebounds, eight by Rumley, had 15 personal fouls, and committed 35 turnovers, 21 in the second period after Jones left the game.
Gallipolis dropped to 2-1 on the year and 1-1 in SEOAL play. CHS improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in league play. Saturday, the Cavs traveled to Wheelersburg for a non-league contest. Gallipolis’ next game is Tuesday, at home against Chesapeake in a non-league bout.
InFriday’s preliminary game, Gallipolis almost blew a 15-point lead in the second half before downing the Little Cavs, 49-46.
Gallipolis led 19-11, 34-19 and 41-29 at the quartermarks. CHS outscored GAHS 17-8 in the final stanza, and at one point, pulled within two points, 48-46, with 19.5 seconds left. Chuck Cavert's free throw with 17.4 left clinched the win for the Blue Imps, who improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 inside the SEOAL. It was Chillicothe’s season opener.
Cavert led Gallipolis’ attack with 13 points. Nick Mitchell added nine and Jordan Cornwell seven. Eric Young tallied 18 for Chillicothe.

I will keep the Gallia Academy B-Ball Player Cole Jones there Senior Forward in my prayers tonight. I pray that he heals O.K. Hopefully, the Blue Devils will drive forward and win some big games this season in the SEOAL. Congrats to the CAVS.

Were competitive until...
Dprry 7462...GAHS was very competitive the first 10 minutes of play until Jones went down. That seemed to take the life out of GAHS.
Last year, GAHS was down something like 29-4 after one period at Chillicothe.

Yes i was shocked my self they were up by 1 at the end of the first quarter. Yes the Jones(leg)hurt,but the outcome of the game would have remained the same. Way to much speed and quicknest for us to handle.
I can say that I've never seen an team play in the GAHS gym with that much speed/quicknest. I found myself just waiting for a monster JAM from Chilly.

I sure hope that the kid can make a full recovery.....Gallia Academy has been hit as hard by injuries as any school.....Golden in football, and now Jones in basketball.....in both cases, they were season ending injuries to kids who were a vital part of each program. In fact, Golden would have been the starting point guard in basketball, so his injury has affected 2 sports.
