I was told that it was voted on to discuss getting out of the league. Needed info from AD.So I would say it wasn't a done deal.

Geesh why have an AD if you aren't going to discuss important matters like this with him? If I were the AD I would be upset over this.

For those who say the travel is too far, I agree, but we never see some at the local games so why bring travel time into the factor of leaving.

You have to give the SEOAL two years notice prior to leaving.

Athens actually gave notice before the first game was ever played last fall, and thus last year and this serve as their two year notice.

Is there a legal techincality to hold them to that, or can you just vote to leave anyhow and re-make your schedule?

As bad as I hate to admit it . Jackson is the only school who seen this comming. I made fun of them on here for voteing NO. I take back all of it. This league will be lucky to survive now as it is now . I think it will end up a eight team league soon.Just my opinion.

Rhiannon is correct from what I have been told. My source, a very very good source told me that the vote was to look into/investigate what it would involve in leaving the league.

At this point from what I can tell this vote means nearly nothing. First they have voted to investigate leaving and second the same voters will not be there at the next meeting.

I knew this would happen. Logan is way too strong for the teams in the league. So the teams are left with two choices. Get better or get out. I have encouraged teams to get better. Obviously many teams would rather lanquish in mediocrity.

I love it that Ironton can't win here and can't wait until they can swim the river and whoop those Kentucky teams. You guys are something.

As for Army, i see all your scenarios leave the Chieftains out. Interesting, i would say you have learned some things from Ironton. I bet you would all let Logan in your basketball league.

1. Logan dominates in football.

2. Fuel costs the same in Logan.

3. The distance is the same for Logan

As far as I know nothing has been decided regarding Ironton and their leaving the league. One thing I do know for sure the existence of any one school in the league would not be the reason for Ironton or anyone else to get out. Logan will lend you the three fingers. IT represents the number of times the onced PROUD Tigers have QUIT the league. I think fighting tigers should be changed to something like running rabbits. Or Kentucky killers. I heard they may turn tanks stadium into a hockey rink and play Canada again.

Concerning the long road trips for Ironton, I had a question.....why is it that Ironton typically only plays Portsmouth and Wheelersburg from Scioto County and no other Scioto County school, and typically never plays any Lawrence County school? Is it because Ironton wants to travel further for games or is it because the Lawrence/Scioto schools do not want to play Ironton?

According to irontonfootball.com, Ironton vs. Coal Grove has only happened 4 times in the history of high school football! That is just unreal to me considering the closeness of these two schools. Ironton vs. Rock Hill has only happened three times. Ironton vs. Portsmouth West has happened only 10 times. Ironton vs. Fairland only happened 1 time! Ironton vs. Chesapeake happened twice. Ironton vs. Lucasville Valley has never happened!

It's just hard to believe that these schools are all so close to Ironton and Ironton has no real history of playing these schools. Even if these schools did not want Ironton in a league with them, you would think they would play as non-league games just from the short travel distance and the huge gates I'm sure these games would generate.

It's just hard to believe that Nelsonville-York has played Ironton more times than many of the schools in Ironton's backyard.

First of all, I am so sick of watching every stinking thread in this forum degenerate into an Ironton vs. Logan mud-tossing fight (with some splatters saved for Gallia Academy and Chillicothe) that I could just wretch. Do you folks realize that you're doing NOTHING but embarrassing the league as a whole with your petulant crap? It's disgusting. 2old -- Yes, I'm sure the fuel costs the same in Logan (oddly, the price of a gallon of regular in Zanesville can vary by 15 cents sometimes). But do the Chieftains have to make any 3-hour trips? We do, when it's time to go to Ironton and Portsmouth, and it's almost that long for us to get to Gallipolis. The shortest trips we have right now are to Logan and Athens (certainly not "direct"). It's a "short trip" timewise to Marietta only because we can use two interstates and be there in a jiffy. I would GUARANTEE YOU that the fuel cost for Zanesville and Ironton, to name just two schools, outstrips the fuel costs at Logan. Your logic is skewed.

Army -- The Buckeye Central Conference was Zanesville, Nerk, Lancaster, Finday and Fremont Ross (yes, we've actually had a WORSE travel setup than the SEOAL!). The latter left first, leaving four schools that final year, as I recall.

GAHS4EVER -- Did Athens really vote to leave BEFORE last school year started? I certainly didn't make a mental note of it, but it seemed like it happened after we all were playing games. Not challenging you on that, just trying to clarify.

The Athens vote happened in July 2006. One day that July the TVC voted to offer them a spot in the league, and the next day the school board voted 5-0 to leave the SEOAL and join the TVC. Athens then officially let the SEOAL know they were leaving at the next SEOAL meeting, which I think was in August 2006.
