I have TW cable [Roadrunner]. Of course I have no idea what any of this means.

Which is "better"? Big numbers or little ones?

The higher the numbers...the better. Do you have the "standard" internet from RoadRunner? If so, your download should be between 6000-7000.

Like I stated in my last post, those low numbers are what the cheap version of RoadRunner (RoadRunner Lite) should be putting out. And should be costing you around $24.00 a month. The "standard" should be costing close to $44.00 a month depending on what package you have.

If you are paying for the standard, I would call Time Warner and complain about the speeds because they are no where near what you are paying for!

Of course if you are downloading anything at the time you run the tests, the numbers will be low as well. So run the test when nothing else is going on with your pc.

The time of day also has a lot to do with it. And if you notice on the main page of that website, there is a running "test" counter. There are alot of users making the tests the same time you are that will affect the speeds to a certain extent.

Since your son liked the white mouse idea so well, maybe you can have him bring home a couple of hamsters to make the wheel inside your computer run a little faster

The thing is, you are paying for 7000 kb/s. And not getting what you are paying for.

Has the tech showed up yet? Or is this latest test before he made it? If he has been there already, what was his excuse for the low speeds?

Another thing to look at would be your ethernet cable that is running from the modem to the back of the pc. But without a doubt since so many of you are having the low speeds at the same time, I seriously doubt it would be that. It would be odd that so many people would experience a bad wire at the same time.

that's not right, you sure need to contact them. You also might want to check into DSL if it's available there. You could almost get those speeds with DSL lite (up to 3 mbs) that Windstream offers at 24 a month. The 6 mbs service that I have is only 29 dollars. They even have a 512 kb lite service now for only $14.95 a month.

Here's the Windstream page

Cable is faster if everything is working correctly. But as we can see by some of these posts, cable is not working correctly for several users.

T1 and T3 conections are the best...but normal users can't afford them.

Eh, first the said that my signal was bad, then they ran a seperate cable to my modem, and thats the new results.....that I previously posted.

I am getting ready to move in a month or so, so I will not gripe to badly, but if its not fixed there I will not be happy.
