I know it's hard for Fighting Tiger fans to accept, but down periods happen to any program in any sport over the course of 100 years or more. Portsmouth is the 8th winningest basketball program in Ohio all time, with 4 state titles, and 15 appearances in the state tournament.......but we had 7 straight losing seasons from 2003-2009, which was a school record. Since then, we have come back with a 122-48 record with 2 Final 4 trips.

Point being, Ironton won't be down forever. I'm an outsider looking in, and maybe some things need tweaked or changed, but for the most part when there are down periods for schools, it mostly is because the talent isn't quite what it was during the good times. Ironton, though, isn't fighting a losing culture like Portsmouth football has been trying to overcome for the past dozen years or so. IHS made the playoffs last year, but obviously this year isn't living up to the expectations of the Ironton faithful.

It's good that Ironton's fans keep the bar high. The disappointments of the present time can turn with just a few classes of kids. People can blame the coaches all they want, but if any coach doesn't have the talent, the program will suffer the consequences. Some fans judge of talent can be misguided, which leads to unreasonable expectations of the coaching staff.

Wheelersburg is what they are because of outstanding athletes who are well coached, and that system feeds itself through the lower grades. They are right now the model program in the SE district. They have the ultimate characteristic of a great program, one that reloads instead of rebuilds. Ironton can get back to that, but it will take some close examination by the powers in charge of what needs to be fixed, how to fix it, and keeping it fixed.

There's no reason that Ironton football can't return to glory.

Fred, your post is clearly more offensive and off topic than what CPT said. U too have made yourself look like a careless a** behind a fake name.. I have read ytb post since 2006.. he puts his own personal issues out there... You don't want them brought back up, don't post it.. and for ytb, get over it. You are a grown man.. I have never met you, but I know who you are.. you are a grown man, past the stage to cry about what someone says on the internet.. from what I have read, CPT basically calls you out on your predictions. Simply because they are not an opinion you have formed on your own, instead they are what you have read prior on here or based on the 1980's .

He wasn't tooting his own horn, he was showing how big of a jerk you are, he post stuff multiple times to get conversation going and I believe the post that he posted multiple times was completely football related. He didn't say anything about himself until you personally blasted him for no reason. Of course any normal human being would take up for themselves. That's where you're taking it.. ytb put his own issues out there every week... Reasons why he can't go to the games. Personally, I couldn't care less if he goes. But his post are rhetorical, and he does post snide remarks quite often. If I dish it out I am willing to take it. Nothing personal. Im not a child and I don't take what anyone says on here to heart. Talking trash and taking shots at somebody's personal health issues is two different things. You know what if this guy is sitting at home with some crazy sickness and only has a certain amount of time to live and somebody pokes fun at it?
