the jv officiating has been terrible all year long. the only problem is there are only so many officials to choose from. i've been to several of the jv boys games this year, , and it seems like its always the same two guys working. maybe bronc21 and hitchbone could put some of that officiating knowledge to work next season
iI have no love for zaneville mainly because of last year when they cancelled the feb game and then try to say it was us who did it but back to the subject at hand friday tough road trip should win by 30 points saturday real challenge ray hit the boards baby bring it home to chilli oh over heard a convo between bradley and payne that they might move the dunbar game to ouc not offical something about wellston not big enough for the crowd cant confirm tho tank out peace
respect me ill respect you desrepect me well i weigh 400 pound ill sit on you heheheh
i also heard rumblings going around the gym tuesday about something to do with the Dunbar/Chilli game. Hitchbone might be able to confirm if there is anything to these rumors.

I have nothing official to report, so I will leave it at that. Will post when I find out for sure.
I am more concerned about the lack of publicity for the event. It is amazing how people don't understand that advertising and publicity works. You have the #1 Team in D2 (and two time defending state champs) against one of the strongest teams in Southern Ohio and I am not seeing much. Maybe the blitz starts on Monday.
Hitch: Not to dis this tournement or anything. But outside of the Chilly/ Dunbar game this tourney is not that great. For people in the southeast it is . However there are two more tourney's that same
weekend.the Hover Classic in Canton and Flyin to the Hoop in Dayton Both are better days of B-ball than whats at Wellston. And hoop fans around the state will go where the better games are. Wellston vs Jackson (Come ON) thats one people will drive three hours for. Believe Me Coach D can put together a great tourney as was the National hoops classic. But this is about a one game deal. The Wellston Gym is way Big enough for the Chilly/Dunbar Game. Hope the Cavs are just ready for this will be there biggest test.
There will be people @ the Chilly/Dunbar game, but expect them to be local. Remember, Dunbar does NOT travel well (fans), and they seem to be in a fairly "big" game about every other week with their schedule. One opinion here, but the novelty of these "classics", "tournaments", and so forth have seemed to wear off a bit. I think the Chilly fans who traveled to Cincy saw this... very few in attendance. Over $3 gas, tickets approaching $15, sometimes $20, may be stretching some people's limite IMO. That being said, Marietta tonight, and Newark tomorrow, THEN Dunbar. Two top ten D2 schools is a huge matchup for Southern Ohio. Will be more Cavs fans there due to much less travel... Go Cavs!!
hitchens and chambers 0 pts. chilli's bench playing most of 2nd qtr as chilli is in foul trouble. at least those (......) called 3 fouls on marietta in the half..
chilli wins not sure of score, but think it was chilli 66 - 51.......stu finishes with 26.....once chilli starters got back on the court in the 2nd half.....game over!
This was a big time set up game for the Cavs. Veteran teams pull through and halfway through the third, the defense took over and dominated. We may have lost this game last year (at this time of the year). This is about when we started peaking.
Congrats to the Tigers on a valiant effort. They were dropping 3 balls all night (especially first half).
Cavs led by Beverly who breaks out of 3 ball slump with a career high.
Chambers and Hump both in foul trouble in the first half. Tigers play box and 1 on Hump to take him out. Other kids step up and get it down.
Cavs are to strong on the defensive side not to stay in the game. Good news is the win. Bad news is burn the tape and get ready for Newark tomorrow.
That is what created the set up game. Long road trip with an overnight stay in Columbus to play old COL rival Newark.
Interesting game.... Chilli pressed constantly and the Tigers handled it pretty well. However, just like in boxing where constant body blows eventually take their toll, the press finally gave the Tigers some problems in the third quarter. Chilli ended the third quarter up 7 after trailing by three at the half. The game ended with Chilli up by 12. They were never able to put the Tigers away. I was proud of the Tigers effort. Tiger shooting from the foul line in the first half was poor or the lead would have been six or eight at the half. Just too many turnovers and easy looks for Chilli in the second half. Look for the Tigers to finish strong.
Good luck to Chilli vs. Newark.... just like the good old days of the COL.

positivecoach,
Good Post.....Good Old days C.O.L.
Just like last year, the Tigers gave us a game. They had a kid last year that hit a bundle of 3's at Hutton Gym. Good Luck the rest of your season Marietta.
Too bad we couldn't convince those old foes to get back together and re-form the C.O.L.
Former C.O.L. Teams
1. Ironton 1963-1967 2. Chillicothe......1941-1944 / 1948-1976 3. Upper Arlington 1968-to the closure of the COL 4. Lancaster 1926-to the closure of the COL 5. Newark 1926-to the closure of the COL 6. Zanesville 1926-to the closure of the COL 7. Coshocton 1926-1962 8. Cambridge 1926-1958 9. Dover 1941-1957 10. Marietta 1930?-to the closure of the COL
That is.....if our Cavaliers, Tigers and Blue Devils could still keep up against the likes of Upper Arlington, Lancaster and Newark year in and year out in all sports.
I don't think Cambridge or Coshocton would be a problem.
But I think all three of our schools already know the answer to that one. That's why we are all in the SEOAL now.
Tomorrow we play against another former C.O.L. foe, the Newark Wildcats. We scrimmaged the Lancaster Golden Gales earlier this season at Chillicothe and blew them away.
We will most likely be playing our other C.O.L. foe now, as the Marietta Tigers are, that being, the Zanesville Blue Devils. And probably twice again this season for the SEOAL Crown.
We didn't play the Upper Arlington Golden Bears another C.O.L. and OCC foe, this year in the Boys Varsity competition...but our Cavaliers Girls B-Ball Team did, and defeated the Golden Bears.
Too bad we couldn't convince Lancaster or Newark to take The Plains Athens place in the SEOAL-North. Both are D1 but are still close enough to SE-Ohio. Especially Lancaster.
I doubt certain teams in this SEOAL would vote for a Lancaster or Newark to join if they petitioned the League. What say you
