Don't know what to say. Hope the Redmen come out on top. But they did not play well last night so I hope they play better Friday. They were back to the old style last night. INDIVIDUAL game No team work. THere were alot of people open ALOT and they were never passed to and the basket not being scored as a results. Not saying that they woud have made the shot but the odds were better than some of the shots taken. They may just get a rude awaking with the Pointers but I hope not. I hope the Hill can play like they did at RV or South Gallia but we will have to see.

I agree... we didn't move the ball as well... now there were times in the game where we really moved the ball around a lot. At the beginning of the game Matney hits two three balls in a row from the corner... Coal Grove stays in the 1-3-1 defense and the shot is still there, but we stopped getting the ball to him... you've got to feed your hot hand at that moment... we also failed to get the ball in the post... if we establish an inside presence then it will open up so much more... finally, we have got to know where Mayo is at all times and you better be on your toes... he's quick and will go by you without the ball... we can't let down on defense! It's going to have to be guard your man and track Mayo so you can double him... I think Rock Hill matches up real well... except for the Mayo matchup... we have got to have a speed guy on him or else he will have a night. We also have to put a body on Weed... very athletic... we've got the beef down low... but we're not using it... if you don't use what good is it? MOVE WITHOUT THE BALL!!!!! DON'T STAND AROUND ON OFFENSE!!! Step it up and you win the game at South Point! We could be the first to beat them in their new gym!
We are fighting for sectional seed position now... here's a look at an earlier post with current seed projections for the Jackson D-3 Sectional... As we know from the past you want to be in the top 6 seeds or better is you want to go to the Convo and beyond... right now we're hanging around the 7 seed... a win Friday night would really move us up and shake things up. I like mid season games with post season significance.

IMO, Mayo is gonna get his points and there is reallly nothing you can do about that, so your best bet at beating SP is shutting down the others. Mayo didn't kill Chesapeake as bad as the others from SP who came off the bench and threw in a basket here and there. At one crucial time in the game (I believe SP was up two or three points), one of the pointers came straight into the game (off the bench) and converted a three-point play. His supporting cast seemed to hit a shot at the right time, every time. They have a very good team. Peake played them very close for the most part but you could tell that some of our players were playing "scared", something I hadn't witnessed until last night. The other thing I have been trying to figure out is why we had our shortest player on the team (who is a great defensive player, nonetheless) on Mayo for the majority of the game. Once Mayo crossed over and got into the lane for a lay-up, his shot was not even being contested because 1) he was two heads taller than the guy who was guarding him and 2) our help defense sucked air. Peake did not rebound worth two cents on offense and defense, giving SP many chances to score each time down the floor while the panthers were held to usually one shot.

&&Again I agree with bballrh there is to much individual doings on this team....Matney had an awesome night at river valley an it could have possibly been the same Tuesday but he didn't get the ball that much, an its obvious the players who are playing for themselves seem to not be getting the hint an if they havnt changed their ways by now I doubt they do the rest of the season. But good luck friday an hopefully depriest gets the playing time in this game that he deserves

I don't think it's a matter of players playing for themselves... these boys have always passed the ball (sometimes too much) look at the assists and rebound numbers as well... basketball is more than scoring... it's about defense and maintaining team unity... I don't thing there needs to be any conspiracy theories thrown out on here... that doesn't accomplish anything... Everyone has a player that is special to them for what ever reason... but the team and its success must be placed above any personal performance... We need to talk more about some of the less glamerous aspects of the game if anything... defense, taking a charge, throwing a solid pass, boxing out and rebounding... Scoring will take care of itself as long as the boys keep a family attitude... we need to help promote that I believe. just my opinion.
