looking for players to step up with the lose of 14 seniors who pretty much all started on both sides of the ball. they have a great shifty sophmore who will be a junior next year who will prolly play QB and some juniors who will be seniors who proved themselves at the end of the year last year. they should make a great tandum in the backfield along with Grillo handling the rains at the QB position. vc strong point this year will prolly actually be their special teams with Grillo who took two almost three kick/punts back in the final game against Wellston. the VC county team will be looking for some players stepping up and playing the line. they lost like all of their O-line and will need some protection for Grillo and two less game experienced running backs behind him. one of which had 104yds in 7 carries against wellston, but not that hard to do. but the week before in their shocking win picked up a huge first down against meigs as well as have 50yds. in 9 carries.
this is definately a rebuilding year for VC.

i hope us vikings will be able to please the fans and give athens a rude welcoming to tvc ohio. me and several others are already working out everyday after school getting ready for the season. i cant wait to play my senior year.

I started following this team/school when they traveled to Licking County and played Watkins Memorial and later Newark Catholic.

cORRECT ON BOTH.

The biggest reason I started following V.C. was when they played Watkins the players from V.C. was setting around close to the bus the chartered down and several players from Watkins would walk by talking crap(All in good fun) but not one player from V.C said anything back.

After the player from Watkins left one player from V.C. said they will know who we are after this one is over.

Class all class on that day from V.C. and the fans I spoke to was just like the players.

1994 VC lost to Watkins 33-0
1994 VC won @ Newark Catholic 3-0

1995 VC lost to Newark Catholic 28-7
1995 VC lost to Watkins 20-7

1996 VC won against Watkins 35-21

I believe these are the only encounters between Newark Catholic, Watkins Memorial and Vinton County.

that sucks no minford this year they were very tough competitors and always seemed to bring out the best in us at vc.

Been looking forward to seeing how Andy Grillo can run the offense. His speed will definately add another dimension to VC's attack. The only bad thing about him moving to QB is that he won't be at the WR position! Anthony Bentley had a nice last game against Wellston and Steven Thompson and Dylan Guthrie will be factors as well. Should be a "team oriented " group this year.

Vinton County will have a HUGE line on both sides of the ball. The offensiveline will probably average 280 pounds. They arent really that strong of a group but in heart and determination they will dominate. VC's defensive backs will probably be the same as the offense. Grillo, Safety; Bentley, Corner; Meachem, linebacker; and Thompson either corner or Linebacker.
