Yellow Jacket's coach John Heisman did not throw a pass and neither team made a first down all game. Cumberland fumble nine times;Tech's Jim Preas was 18 for 18 on conversions. The final score --George Tech 222, Cumberland 00-still records for total points and margin of victory in a college game.

After having scant sucess going through Army's rock-solid line the first quarter, the visiting Irish decided to go over it: Gus Dorais threw the ball repeatedly to Joe Pliska and Knute Rockne, completed an astounding 13 of 17 passes for 243 yards, shocking the Cadets 35/13 and ushering in a new era of offensive football.

To take full advantage of Jim Thorpe's running, passing and punting prowess, Carisle coach Pop Warner had devised a formation called the single wing. Army's fabled defense, which included a cadet named Dwight Eisenhower, keyed on Thorpe, but he still sprinted for a 97-yd touchdown as the underdog Indians thrashed the Cadets 27/06
