bman, I am curious as to why you think LE was more deserving of the #2 than McClain.

LE's schedule:

Harvest Prep
Hamilton Township H.S.
Teays Valley H.S.
Adena H.S.
Fairfield Union H.S.
Circleville H.S.
Canal Winchester H.S.
Westfall H.S.
Zane Trace H.S.
Amanda Clearcreek H.S.
Bloom Carroll H.S.
Westland High School
Hamilton Township H.S.
Teays Valley H.S.
Fairfield Union H.S.
Miami Trace H.S.
Circleville H.S.
Canal Winchester H.S.
Amanda Clearcreek H.S.
Bloom Carroll H.S.

McClain's schedule:

Piketon
Reynoldsburg
Goshen
Unioto
Hillsboro
WCH
Miami Trace
Madison Plains
Adena
Leesburg Fairfield
Clinton Massie
London
WCH
Zane Trace
Hillsboro
Madison Plains
Southeastern
Miami Trace
Clinton Massie
London

IMO there is not much difference in the schedules. I just don't see enough difference b/w the two to say that one deserves the #2 or the other - except for McClain beat Adena, LE lost to Adena. That is the common sense decider IMO. I am just curious why you think LE was such an obvious #2 over McClain. Not intended to argue, just curious, and will respect your position.

just my guess... but LE lost to harvest prep the first game in ot..lost to Adena early...then lost to Canal about 3 weeks ago.

Mclain has lost 2 games since LE lost - so i would guess that is the main reason some feel LE deserved the 2 seed. Plus - besides Reynoldsburg on Gm's sched. , LE's schedule is quite a bit stronger - imo

SOS is a tough thing to argue unless everyone is playing everyone else. I don't see where LE's schedule is that much more difficult. Outside of Canal Winchester, MSL is roughly equal to the SCOL. WCH is third best team in the SCOL and would probably run through LE's league schedule with roughly the same record they have now. Same goes for McClain and Plains.

Circleville played WCH earlier this season and handily defeated them. LE has beaten Circleville convincingly twice.

In the end the separation between these two teams isn't a great deal. While I believe LE has a stronger schedule, the loss to Adena really hurt them in their quest for the second seed. Gfield beat Adena.

BTW...WCH was handily beaten by Circleville, who LE has convincingly beaten twice.

OK. Also, good win v. C'ville last night. Not as close as I thought it would be.

A friend and I were talking about this last night. He said that VanMeter gets more respect than Stiverson, and so that is probably another factor why LE did not get the #2 seed.

Greenfield has had some good wins too. Should be an interesting sectional and district and I look forward to watching Greenfield in the tournament. You always know you will see good basketball when you watch the Tigers.

A coach can have his opinions and yes they are more informed than the rest of us hacks, but coaches I have talked to seem to take one of two extremes on Van Mater. Either they love him or they hate him. To say that coaches in general respect him over Stiverson (or fill in your favorite coach here if you like) doesn't seem to tell the whole story.

I agree. I was just stating what someone else told me.

The main difference is not strength of schedule, it is the fact that the msl is a stronger conference this year than the scol. mcclain fans will come on here and probably try and argue this point, but that was the same comment made by some people very close to the tigers. According to some coaches, the bad thing is that chillicothe made the decision on who was the 2 and who was the 3 with their vote. I don't know if either of these teams have enough to go deep enough to play chillicothe u, but I would like to see both get the opportunity. This could make it interesting since Kellough was not the overwhelming first choice to take over the cavs a couple of years ago, and Stiverson was.

The MSL has only one team that I would call real down and that is Amanda. Bloom-Carroll - who is typically strong but has had some injuries and played a pretty tough schedule also has double digit losses. The SCOL has Clinton-Massie, Miami Trace, Hillsboro and London who are well below .500 and have double-digit losses.

Ultimately the tournament will prove which league is stronger.

If Logan Elm and Chillicothe meet up that'll be real interesting. I consider Chilli the favorite but LE will stay with them better than people think.

I'm a McClain fan and I won't argue the point ----- much. Canal Winchester is above any SCOL team. McClain = LE. Madison Plains is better than the 3rd best team in the MSL. Circleville beat WCH early in the year when WCH was coming off football and struggling to find a point guard - but C'ville won so they are better than WCH. From there on down, the SCOL is a wash - however on any given night Hillsboro can beat the rest of the MSL. The Indians are young, immature, and adapting to a new coach - however they are athletic and when the put it together, they can beat most average teams.

mhs- Umm, Circleville beat WCH in the football playoffs, which means, they actually had less time to get ready for that game.

What's your point? WCH started the year relying heavily on football players and also in search of a point guard. Seems that on the Huddle there are many that do not consider that early season lose significant because many are picking the Blue Lions to top the Tigers in the tourney.

The argument on here seems to be that LE deserved the #2 because their schedule was tougher. I have agreed that Canal Winchester is the best team of the two leagues. Outside of that, Reynoldsburg is better than anyone else on LE's schedule. LE=GM, however Plains > GM, WCH can play with anyone on LE's schedule not named Canal Winchester. From there the MSL is probably slightly better than the SCOL, however McClain and Plains would still probably run the table vs. the rest of the MSL outside of LE and CW. Not much different in SOS between LE and GM. GM beat Adena, Adena beat LE, hence GM =#2, LE=#3.
