Ya, the last couple of weeks the defense should get a feel for whats going on out there. But then agian they were getting valuble experience for this season. which i think will really pay off. i have a feeling it is the Redstreaks year.

Ok honestly you Waverly fan's look at what you write and lesson to what you say and think before you write and speak. Ok you say Malone is faster then Roback. Then you say Roback run's a 4.6 but Tackett and Reed beat Malone in track. But Tackett and Reed both run about a 4.6 so im doing the math in my head. (Malone faster then Roback which equals a 4.6 but Tackett and Reed stomp Malone in track which Tackett and Reed run's about a 4.6 so with my calculation I think you need to fix your stop watch's Waverly you can barrow mine if u need it)

ligit_ownage,
Just for the record, Roback ran a 4.62 in New Jersey Last year at Schuman's Ultimate 100 Camp. At the regional camp in Columbus this year, 4.58. Tell them to check their stopwatches.

Now, ask college coaches, and they'll tell you those numbers mean very little. Here's why.

How many times do you really run 40 yards in a straight line in a football game? I would look more at Pro Agility Shuttle(5-10-5) times and L-Cone times These test quickness in short bursts from side to side and ability to change direction quickly. You also must factor in size, strength, and explosion.

Of course, you also must have that football mentality. If you don't have that, nothing else really matters, does it?

Yes, this is very true!!!!

Everyone is so hyped on who is faster this will be decided on who's team comes to play!

When you talk about the Streaks having 5-8 sop. that got all this experience, when RoBack and Malone have been playing/starting since their freshman year.
MEANING???

Both kids have felt a loss in league play this past year have won two 1st round playoff games at Raidager Field. They know what it takes to win and they understand what it will take to get to the common team goal of an SOC championship. While continueing the legacy of the past two seasons both reaching the second round.

Another point that should be made if Piketon is so great then how come they declined when offered a chance to play Waverly's 08' class?

Roback ran his 4.6 at the scout midwest combine where he was the underclassman MVP.

I think Waverly will get the Big W in this game, but I believe it will be close

Yes Malone and Roback have played all that time but some kids had good upper classmen in front of them like Reed he sat behind Justin Bryant and then Crothers before he got his chance.

And I believe that helped him and he should do great this year.

Waverly went 21-3 during Kevin and Derek's freshman and sophomore years. We will graduate better than 20 seniors from the 2007 football team. I think it is an established fact that we have had our fair share of, "good upper classmen" the last two years. In spite of that fact, Derek and Kevin have STILL played. I am making no comment about Piketon. My point is simply that Derek and Kevin were good enough to play a bunch as freshmen and sophomores on two very good Waverly teams. They compare pretty well with most athletes in the area.

This will be an interesting Summer. Anyone who thinks those 2 are not some of the best athletes in the area don't know much about the game. There are good athletes on both sides. The question is which offensive line grows up more over the summer. Good luck to both. Two very good coaching staffs who happen to be good friends. remember gentlemen when you start putting kids down they are reading this also.

bengalfan76, I agree about the o line and d line. We all know that the "MEN" up front win the games and get the chicks! lol

Should be a fun summer, I have had the pleasure of coaching these young men from Piketon when they were in Jr Hi and it is fun to watch them grow up and hit the field on Friday nights.

I wonder if Rusty and Tyler will have a friendly wager on this contest?

I’m not doubting there skill at all. There are very much great athletes, but every one has been correct about the games are won upfront. Which I’m almost sure Piketon has the better line on both sides of the ball with Lightle  , Varney  , Pate  , Osburn  , and Moore  on the o-line and Varney  , Southworth  , Moore  , Pate  , Osburn  on the d-line I think the head to head match up, up front is in Piketon’s favor. Plus who’s going to guard Southworth 6-5 :122246 and Brabson 6-4 :122246 and stop the Tackett and Reed combo  . It going to come down to who can make that game changing int, or fumble, or that big td
