There's no real test to show who wants it more than the others...I mean nobody likes to lose. To me it's all about execution and composure. Any given team on any given sunday, fridays and saturdays in this case, can beat the number one team in the state if they just execute and believe they can win.

This just in everyone in SOCII cant compete with Burg so they win the SOCII again and they can have the gold ball better luck next year to Waverly, West, Minford, Valley, and Northwest.

I think everyone should say that their hometown school is gonna win, though, they may not believe that. There's nothing more crushing to a player than to hear your own fans say you won't win.

There is a difference in saying your team will win and saying that no1 can touch your team as most burg fans dont neccesarily say but imply

West will return alot of seniors that has been playing since sophomore year in 2008. Experience helps a bunch. Lester, Sparks, Weber, Swords, Perry, Journey, Bricker, Morgan,Vangundy are some of the names you should here alot from this year. I might have skipped a name or two. Not intentionally, these are the ones that came to mind without looking at a program from last season. With Murphy, Pendleton , Compton and a few others thrown in the mix West definitely will be competitive for the SOCII title. Go West!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

The burg lost a lot. They do have a lot of talent returning next year and should be as good if not better than last yr. I like senior laden teams but the burg only had 6-7 jrs on the team last yr. If thats all that comes out next yr the burg will be hurting in the senior leadership dept.

But, are they any good?? Who cares how many people you have if they don't have any talent.

Did anyone expect last years team to be as good as they were? Everyone picked Waverly to win and yet here we sit with another SOC title. They will do fine as long as they think they can compete.

Wow, if it were just that easy every team would win....if kids from any school didn't think they could compete, they probably wouldn't play!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Confidence can be built in a variety of ways.

1. The offseason --- seeing your teammates work hard to get better(physically, mentally)
2. Team Chemistry --- understanding your teammates
3. Program --- a successful program usually maintains success, and it is sustained by the upcoming group
4. Past season --- the past season can motivate(if it wasn't such a good year) a team to try much harder than the year before... or if the season was good, the team wants to achieve the same success
5. Coaches --- a good coaching staff can push the players to the limit without going overboard all the time. Preparing the players for the season is just as important as the season itself
6. Numbers --- if the team is bigger, the players feel better about the team
7. Community --- the community, which almost always supports its team, is there even when the team is in a losing skid

I know kids from the BURG and area schools that dont want to play but their parents make them. Many kids play just for the sake of being on the football team and others do it for the love of the game...BIG difference.

Playing football with the year around committment because your parents want you to seems a little backwards. On the topic, I'd look for a dog fight in the SOC II. WB, Waverly and Minford all lost a lot but have a lot of returning players. West returns the most but it remains to be seen if they can put it together. Valley is a year or two away. Northwest is a question mark? It should be an exciting season.
