Well congrats to the Pointers on a perfect season and on winning the OVC. There was way to many easy layups being made and not alot defense throughout the whole night. Depriest had a good game and played very hard. Matney did a great job on rebounding and I know Butler and Davenport would've had an even better game had they not been in foul trouble. You boys played hard and deserve congrats on sticking together as a team and playing hard all year!! I would like to say that not all of the Redmen were cheering when Mayo fouled out, I didn't think that was fair because he really didn't deserve that because he is not a cocky or arrogant player at all.

Way to go Pointers!!! My take on the game was the Pointers were off offensely they couldn't make a foul shot to save their lives but did have the easy lay ups off of great passes. My favorite play of all was Mayo's two handed block of Davenport's shot! That was way too funny. The Redmen were scrappy and kept themselves in the game it would have been a 20 point difference if we made those missed foul shots. Oh well I bet the boys will be sluggish tomorrow night at West Union. I was shocked that RH had NO student section at a home game and a lot of the crowd didn't even leave their seat to cheer at all. I felt bad for the RH boys who were playing their heart out and a lot of people didn't cheer to get them back into the game.

I don't know how everyone else feels, but I think it's one thing when the student section does or chant or something (for instance their "hey hey hey, good bye." Not to say they can't cross a line, but I think for the most part they're kids with alot of school spirit trying to have fun. .... When adults start yelling back at the kids is when I have a problem. ...... I was disappointed to see that Rock Hill didn't have a student section.

But anyways, not exactly the best played game, but SP's defense was good enough to win. The missed foul shots hurt as well. I still can't really believe the Pointers are 19-0 and went 10-0 in the conference. If they can get the win tomorrow night at West Union, SP goes 20-0, undefeated in the regular season. I'd like to know when that last happened at SP!!

Hats off to SP... they did what they had to to win... hopefully we can get by Ironton on Monday and get another shot at them. I agree with the comments about booing Mayo... I think he has proven to be a class act... and I have the utmost respect for him as a competitor... I believe it's important to show the guy who's in there battling respect when the battles over... and yes that was a good block on Davenport who had a few of his own along with 11 boards to lead the conference... I thought the chant on Davenport when he fouled out showed that the SP student section doesn't really respect their opponents... the players do, they were very gracious in their win... and the comment that they are just kids having fun is bogus... I just don't think they represent the attitude of their team who's class is several levels above that of the student section... Granted I must agree that adults on RH's side should refrain from screaming at teenagers as well... I just wish the SP principal would monitor a little better also... I am happy for coach Norris as well... I remember not too long ago when the SP fans were calling him an idiot, now it seems he's a genius by not changing his coaching style at all. RH had a decent game plan but we missed too many easy shots and I agree with Dukiees, we have got to cover that baseline pass.

I honestly don't believe that SPs Student section didn't chant on davenport because they didn't respect him. they do that whenever anybody goes out of the game from the opposing team regardless of them being a good/bad player or having a good/bad attitude towards anybody. It's just somethin thats done when somebody fouls out, just the same as if somebody got blocked and they chant "you got swatted"

I wouldn't call him a genius. He is blessed with talent. With mayo adding 25 points a game I am sure it is the coaching that is getting us the wins! ;-) Sure hope we don't meet up with a Persin or Lafon at the convo!

South Points win tonight put them in a tie with a 19 and 0 when Mr. Hearst played. If South Point wins tomorrow they break that record and make one of their own being 20-0. Never been done at SP
As far as the student section, those chants are exactly what a student section does. Get into the other teams heads. To bad it was the adults heads. Hey Hey HEy goodbye has been sang to us many times.

You'll more than likely meet up with Lafon in Jackson, as Ironton is in SP's bracket of the sectional. Ironton beat a prety decent Logan team tonight and seem to be gelling at the right time.

Awesome win tonight guys!!!! 10-0 in the OVC...very impressive!

I thought the energy was kind of low from the pointers tonight, but as always there was a ton of class. (from the players....of both teams actually). We are all so proud of the SP team this year...amazing job guys!

I thought they did what they needed to do to win tonight...I hope they were just saving their energy for tomorrow. I really thought it was evenly a team effort tonight to get the win...everyone contributed! Mayo showed a lot of heart and class tonight, I am always impressed with him.

Anyways...congrats pointers!!!

The last time the POINTERS went undefeated in the regular season was in 1972, Ronnie Montgomery, Terry Evans , Lance Redman, Kenny Hurst , Marty Patrick, Stennent et al..... Congrats to the new PERFECT team.. We be proud of our MEN !!!!! :-D

They did go undefeated but their regular season consisted of 18 games and they won the first tournament game before getting beat, which gave them 19 straight wins. Right now we are tied for the record but with a win tonight we could make a little bit of South Point history

Congratulations to the Pointers on a GREAT season so far.....undefeated at 19-0, undefeated OVC Champions......good luck vs. West Union tonight.....bring home that 20-0. What the Pointers are doing is truly something special.

Just to put 20-0 in perspective, of all the great teams that Portsmouth High School has produced, only 1 went through the regular season undefeated.....the 1979 team went 18-0, were AP Poll Champions, and lost in the district finals to Ironton. None of the 4 state championship teams went undefeated.

Seasons like this don't happen very often.......hopefully the SP fans will turn out in big numbers in the postseason.
