The single biggest problem for Warren is the same as many schools, too many programs in the small schools. There are several (9-15) kids I can think of that played Jr High FB only to go to XC, Golf, Soccer, or nothing due to lack of success or lack of dedication. Most of their dad's played and they would provide at the very least (good) solid back-ups. Depth is everything, most of our starters can hold their own but when they get banged up (playing both ways almost constantly too) there is a dearth of talent to put in.
My two cents on the TVC move/debate is blah, blah, blah. There is no sport except FB that this would benefit Warren. Ask Belpre how well they were prepared for the playoffs this year. They played TVC schools that are their size and a school their size in the playoffs. Warren would play mostly down if I am not mistaken (I did say mostly) and then have to play DIII schools in the playoffs. In conclusion, I would be very disappointed to see a move by Warren to the TVC.

Zeus - back when most of those kids dads played - there were 70 kids standing on the sideline - but for the most part they stood on the sideline. Coach Hill played his best athletes (football players) both ways and also on special teams - if you were good player - you never, ever left the field. Back in those days when Warren football was really good, I would say 7-8 kids played both ways then. Football is not that aerobic of a sport - there is plenty of time to rest between plays, and a good coach will have his team in condition to play an entire game of football. Find another excuse - because that depth thing is not working. Football is all about attitude, effort, and desire.
Those kids you are talking abouts dads would knock your head off inside the lines of the football field - that is the difference between then and now!!!

runhallerun,
One of those head-knocker dad's you are probably talking about was Josh and Jared Hall's dad.
Problem with that style of play is, when we were trying to catch a pass in the end-zone at Logan and Gallia, a helmet-to-the-ribcage while the ball was in the air was a no-call. But, when Sebring or Oliver got rough with somebody it was 15 yards.

what are you guys going to come up with something better to do on our school other than BE READY or Muck FariettaBigBlueinsider wrote:bigmac-
don't get ur hopes up about the warren game. it wont be a walk in the park like last year,
warrens revamping somethings this year.
expect some big changes
you know for 3 years i have played for MHS warren has always been acting like they are going to destroy marietta and it has never happened as a player on warren's rival team i see another win as a football fan i hope warren the best and competes with marietta.
who is the warren QB? is it Petitt i think i he was the JV QB last year am i right or is there someone else that is stepping up.
well i see as long as marietta can cover Grant the tall dude the pass is shutdown and well dunfee running outside is the other thing that marietta needs to worry about but everything else seems not too competitive
The warren defense has never really shocked me as a strong defense now props to Kaleb Wolfe and Seth Seabring those two were outstanding last year

Id have to say the attitude thing is mutual. This is a rivalry game and a big one at that. BOTH teams would probably SAY that they will destroy the other...whether they WILL or not will be decided later. As for the QB situation Clay Ellenwood was the back up last year to keller who graduates. The JV QB was Justin Hilverding not Justin Pettit. Warren has young talent coming up and I see them to be very competitive. Also watch for Seth Wellspring, and Kaleb Wolfe to get a lot of carries this year...lots of talent between the 2 of them.
BigMac55 ,
Saying you PLAYED for 3 years implies that you actually stepped on the field DURING a game. WATCHED would be the correct terminology. Go start a Marietta thread and spew you garbage there.
Zeus, could'nt agree more. Hate to say the dreaded S word but year in and year out the soccer team takes 6-8 boys that would likely play a skilled position somewhere on the Football team. Too many fall sports for a school the size of Warren. IMO soccer should be moved to the spring and use it as a conditioning program for the Football team.
runhalleyrun, the Jackson game last year is a prime example of leaving your best players ON the field. The Oliver boy has a big interception return to give the Warriors the lead midway in the 4th quarter and for some reason is standing on the sideline with a couple other defensive starters when Jackson scored on a 40 some yard run on the next series. A real chance at a QUALITY win and our best players are watching from the sideline.
The schedule gets tougher this year and 2 of last year wins are gone, replaced by South and Meigs, and only 4 home games according to the schedule. The boys sure have they're work cut out for them.
GO WARRIORS

The schedule does only have 4 home games. This is because the Logan game which should be played t home this year was changed. Ive heard its going to be at the new field theyr making and we get $8,000 to go up there and play(at least thats what I've been told). Meigs is a winnable game that has been added but I'm really not sure what to expect from them this year. Heard they have a pretty good running back but thats bout all I know. I'm really looking forward for the South game...I can't wait to go up against Bolen on his field...should be fun. And with Marietta being so close...especially for me since I live there thats practically a home game. Senior night is 9/27/08!!! Crazy I know. Then after that its 4 road games...portsmouth...Logan...Chilli...Ironton...I'd love to go down to these schools and finall show people that warren can still play football. I see it as a good challenge.

but you know it never seems to work out for warren in the end they start their season against teams that are awful(excpet belpre last year) beat them then act like they are the cream of the crop but then they start their league play and it all goes downhill. and this year is really no different belpre is not going to be as good and P south isnt going to be much better. I hope for the best for warren this year and it actually does work out for them this year.

noreply,
Dunfee was one of our speed guys watching helplessly from the sideline during some of the most critical of "long throws"...Much like Oliver's role as spectator when we blew our lead in the Jackson game. Some of the subbing and personnel selection back there was mindless.
When they were competing for jobs in the scrimmages, I never saw so many bodies flying around so fast and hitting so hard. As the season wore on, though, they looked a little sluggish and confused.

we had some injury problems that hurt us like Cole beihl getting hurt that was huge because Cole was doing great for his first year and was becoming a great DB. Cole was the kid who returned the int for 6 against warren. Then Johnny groom played through sholder problems and Jared Ross got hurt and he was in the middle of the D then Ash Bloomingdale was another loss then we had problems with staph that hurt us but other than that no problems with the plays and offense defense but we needed the players healthy to make it all come togetherBigBlueinsider wrote:hey bigmac, go take a look at some stats. every league game we lost(excluding marietta) we performed alot better than you did against the exact same opponents
