Chillicothe-Zanesville 68-63; SEOAL D.O.C.
philo, you werent there so go away. chilli took the lead 44-40 and had the momentum when they called the bogus elbow on chambers. 4 pt play. then the T on coach K for what? he did nothing. 4 pt play. only player who deserved a T was #4 on many occasions..... he cried and cried everytime his shot was blocked. zville was ALLOWED to push, elbow, and do WHATEVER they wanted. was quite funny how many times chilli players were knocked to the ground and no call. but we should have expected it with the seoal officials we've seen this year. sad!

Congratulations Champs!
Congratulations Zanesville on your SEOAL crown. By the way, what was the reserve score? Thanks.

Bronc,
The game was physical both ways. Both teams could have shot alot more FT's than were shot. Kellough's T was for walking half way onto the floor to complain about a no call during a TO. I saw the elbow and it was just that an elbow. Didn't justify being called intentional. Tonight Zanesville did an excellant job of taking away Chilli's other scoring options, and unlike the 1st match up this year Zanesville had other players step up and score. I thought for the most part the officials did a good job of letting the players decide the outcome. If they had wanted to call it close then both teams would have done nothing but shoot foul shots all night. Overall a very well played game by two very good teams and fans of both teams were very well behaved and supportive of their respective teams.

Same record....both won at the other's place.....Co-Champs. THe DOC makes no sense.
Portsmouth gets the 5th place over Logan? Didn't Logan split with them and have a better league record?....and then lost on the road.
If It is to be a true DOC...then have it at one of the schools....not at all the South or North schools.
Jackson lost at Athens...Athens lost at Jackson
Logan lost at Portsmouth...Portsmouth lost at Logan
Neutral site???

Congrats to Zanesville in winning a showdown in a Hot and packed "HAT" tonight. The atmoshphere was great and every one seem to have kept their head today.
As for the game, I will say that Zanesville was the better team tonight. Simply for a few reasons.
1) Pratti who did not show up in the game at Zanesville scored 14 on various putbacks and easy buckets (off our trapping). He also played some strong post defense.
2) I thought the Cavs defense was way off tonight. We let Pratti and Andre Harris get to the rack to many times. Also the refs were not calling the outside perimeter very tight, so Stu, Caleb and Hump could have been more aggressive. We did after it was to late and it worked.
3) Z-Ville knocked down their free throws throughout the game. They set a school record for FT % this year and it came up big tonight.
4) We needed someone else to step up on the scoring end, as Ray was taken out of the game. Most of that was mental after the Ref got all over Ray. That was my only issue with the refs. Both teams were going after it, but you can't pull one player aside and dress him down, especially when he is taking elbow and forearm, after elbow and forearm.
I still take my hat off to the Cavs as they refused to Lose and stayed after it, after getting down double digits with the intentional foul on Ray and tech on Coach K. This will be a good experience going into the tourney. Z-Ville is a toughnosed basketball team that happened to get the upper hand tonight to make it 3-1.
I will also say KUDO's to the WHIZ as they presented me with a pleasant surprise tonight. However, I don't know if Mr. Blackburn made it in town to cover this game for the Zanesville news. I wonder what his comments will be about the fans and city of Chilly.
The Cavs don't have to hang their heads at all. I know a few of them were grieving the loss of Jon Davis (OU-C) tonight and it is tough to play with a heavy heart. I was proud of the ones that knew him and came up to the Public Viewing last night. For those that don't know, one of our local college kids (Ohio University - Chillicothe) died Monday night after collapsing during practice. We have all had heavy hearts all week. It makes this game seem somewhat trivial when put in perspective.

bronc21,
I will just say this. I told those sitting around me that I had seen 2 of these officials at least 3 times, and not once have they called a game that was consistent when we played. They let us play tonight, but did not handle the inside stuff at all. Z-Ville had a plan to be physical with Ray and it seemed to have worked. However, I beleive the official reading him the riot act did it more then anything.
GO CAVS!!!
First all congratulations to Zanesville for winning the SEOAL title.I'm not going to come on here and cry about the ref's.If you have ever play the game of Basketball it can get rough and tough. That's part of the game is the Ref's.You still go out and play the game of Basketball. It takes more than 1 person to score points in the game. You gotta have rebounding, play defense and etc....Then the intentional foul with the elbow with a four point lead, that really killed us then turn around about two minutes later with a tech on the coach. The thing is we still have the Tourney's to play in.Keep your head's up and get ready for the tourney run.Great teams over come adversity. There's four more steps left in your season sectionals, districts, regionals and State Championships games.
GOOD LUCK CAVS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good post 86....From an aggressor like yourself those are insightful words. As Aronhalt said up there, "We beat ourselves", I will say the same thing here. Our D, our rebouding, and then our composure got us.
We will be better because of it, and as I told one of our young freshman, remember this night for ever. You don't lose on your home court. We got the Ville up there and they got us down here and cut down the nets.
Finally one thought to the SEOAL (which I cannot figure out). Last year, we were not allowed to cut down the nets (neutral court), but this year, they were allowed. I am glad Z-Ville was allowed, but what were you thinking last year.

Congrats to the Blue Devils !!!!!
Congrats Logan on getting the record !!!!
There were alot of no calls both ways. At the start of the fourth quarter, I made the comment " 8 minutes left in this football game". With that said, what an amazing game. Both teams played their hearts out.
The only thing I can say about Hitchens is ......................WOW !!!!!!!!
That kid is a big game player, when the game is on the line he puts the team on his back.
Good Luck to both teams in the tourney .

Congrats Zanesville on your SEOAL championship. What a great atmosphere at the "Hat." All high school kids deserve a chance to play in front of a crowd like that. That had to be fun for the kids. Good lesson the Cavs hopefully learned tonight going into the tourney; you have to adjust to the style of play that the refs are calling & you have to keep your composure no matter what. I thought the "T" on Coach K was disapoining considering the timing and the fact that it happened in the 4th. I would hope that he had already been warned for coming out too far. That's as far as I will go with that. The key point is Zanesville kept their composure in a hostile environment and adjusted to how the game was being called and deserved the win.
The "Ville" was deadly from the FT line converting time and time again to seal the game in the 4th. A positive the Cavs can take from the game is I don't know the stats but it seemed they shot as well as they have all season from the charity strip especially late to keep them in the game. Hopefully that will carry over into the second season. Ray Chambers needs more touches to, which means he needs to get better position and the guards have to be patient enough to allow him to establish better position.
When you put it in perspective the Cavs are fine they lost to a really good team that is about as well-coached as any team in the state. Their pressbreaker and a couple of quick hitters they ran tonight were executed to perfection. This will only help them as they enter the tournament. Good luck to both teams now as we all can be both Cavalier and Blue Devils fans in the tourny.
Oh by the way Blue Devil fans your student section is something to be proud of they are both loud and creative. They are great for high-school basketball and I wished more schools would show that much school spirit.
