duckiees 1 i can't believe you missed the Ironton Rock Hill game![]()
This could have been the second meeting of the year. This should be one heck of a game.
GO TIGERS GO
I know I can't either but Mark wasn't feeling very well and there wasn't enough room to ride with mom and dad but we will be attending tonight to root on the Tigers!!!

Have you been worried about me? I am here just been too busy to get on. I was at work 13 hours yesterday! I am predicting a Pointers win by 8. That is if the injured are back to 100 % and Lafon doesn't out coach Norris which is highly likely. We do have the talent but our bench play will be crucial. Two brothers going at each other should be interesting. Corey Taylor should win that battle though. I wonder who Mom and Dad will be really rooting for? If you can stop Mayo we have others who always seem to step up and fill the void.
Hope every one has a safe trip up and back too bad it couldn't have been played in Coal Grove and saved the gas!!!

Have to agree with you on that one.
Good game Tigers. Way to fight your way back to the win.
Also congrats to South Point. You guys had me nervous the whole game. Congrats on an awesome season.
Way to go Tigers and Coach Lafon on an outstanding win!!!! I'm glad we stepped it up the second half that is for sure. Congrats to South Point on a great season and going undefeated that is something to be proud of. It was a great crowd for Ironton tonight and hopefully they will follow upto the Convo

Hopefully unbiased thoughts from a Jackson resident wanting to see a great game:
I went to watch what I suspected to be an intense game between an undefeated team and a nearby rival. I also wanted to see Mayo play and LaFon coach.
Ironton flat out played harder the whole game. Their defense was intense (it cost them many early fouls, but they adjusted well and played a deep bench) South Point seemed to be playing a pickup game defense and Ironton crashed the boards harder and more often.
You hear the world of negatives about brother OJ and you don't know what to expect going to watch Todd. I was completely impressed with how he handles himself and he never argued, badmouthed or even gave a dirty jab at any point. He did not play hard on defense a lot...but the ability is definately there and he will be playing beyond high school if he so chooses. I loved the fully extended dive to save the ball from going over and back off a poor pass.
LaFon...he gets some flack around the southern parts of the state...but without a doubt he is one of the best coaches in my eyes...and he's funny which I enjoy.
#32 for Ironton was driving....Mayo took the charge...#32 came down on him...charge called...then he shoves Mayo hard in the back with his face going towards the floor....should've definately been a technical...Mayo just got up and moved on.
#32 and #30 did play great defense and their athleticism and effort carried Ironton throughr. Marc Carter is awesome.
I thought one ref did a good job (though SP was giving him crap after the game), one ref is just overrated IMO as he seems to get many great words said of him.....but other than making quick assertive calls I just think he makes some crazy calls and the other ref was simply in too big of a game.
God Luck to Ironton!.....rowdy crowd much? Why di the guy get tossed?

Why didn't Weed play the 3rd qt? I agree Ironman Lafon is IMO the best coach in southern Ohio and a blast to watch. SP didn't play with the same intensity that they did against Fairland and it cost them. Is it just me or does Mayo get the star treatment from the refs. He is an excellent player that has come a long way with his game and attitude. Congrats to the tigers on going back to the Convo.

Actually Ironman 92 it was #22 (not#32) that charged Mayo. It was my brother, and I already ripped his AR$E for what he did, completly uncalled for and he should have got a "T" for it. He understands it was wrong and I glad to see that coach Lafon sat him out most of the 2nd half as punishment to make him realize that it is not a part of the game to play like that. On the other hand, a big CONGRATS to my "Fighting" Tigers on a well played Sectional Tournament!! On to the Convo!!!!

GO TIGERS.........
I think I called this one.

WAY TO GO TIGERS...............

Going 20-0 is awesome, but I think that's what makes this loss hurt a little more, going undefeated in the regular season but then losing the first game of the tournament.
Still though, congratulations to the Pointers on what was a historic season at SP. Good luck to Ironton in the play-offs. If we can't go on in the tournament, the next best thing is to see other Lawrence County teams do so.
