South Point vs. Ironton - 2/15/08
Congrats to the Tigers and to Lafon. SP just dooesn't have the bench to go to. I think the boys were tired near the end. We were outplayed and out coached. Sad to say but I think we probably could have beaten almost any other team in our sectional. This will be a memorable season for the Pointers and will be remembered for quite a few years.

I for one , thought SP used their time-outs too early. IMO. And Tiger-Brother...congrats on ripping #22 Arse. He knew it after he did it, but Coach chewed a little more off for about 45 seconds !! Ironton & SP have alot of promise in the future !!username wrote:how exactly was SP out coached?
Waiting to visualize the sight of TC 71 at an away TIGER game .
My apologies to #32.....and good job teaching #22
I didn't think Mayo got star treatment........but I did think one ref was a little too awed by who he is related to. I agrred with most of the non-calls.
In that 1st half Ironton fans were wanting everything called against Mayo and i just didn't see most of it. Ironton was called for a few too many 1st half calls but like I said....that one ref was way outta his league and the other blew his whistle quick and often....but you never knew what he was going to call...more went against ironton in the 1st half....but the later in the game when the loose balls were got by Ironton resulting in long pass layups....both plays had fouls against SP....but no call..which helped and the one charge was beyond hideous.
The refs did not decide the game.

Mayo better have 30 or more or the pointers will be heading home. Remember this Lafon is a heck of a coach and the tigers can D you up so if point doesn't play their best they will be heading home.
I guess the question I would ask who would they finished behind? What I seen of the OVC this year was SP was good and the other teams where very average at best.
I guess I can rest my case now. The SEOAL is a very tuff league and the OVC is a good league but different not in the same class.

I thought Ironton's athleticism was the difference in the game. They may not have had the best basketball players but they definitely had the better athletes. Mayo seems to be a player was it wasn't evident until the final 4 minutes of the game. He seemed to be stuck in a low gear for most of the game and then took off at the end.
I thought the officials were inconsistent at best. They called everything in the first quarter but then chose to let them play after that. One official seemed to do ok. One didn't call anything and seemed to lose focus after ejecting a fan. I don't know what the fan said but I only think fans should be ejected in extreme circumstances. This guy seemed to have a quick trigger, but again, I don't know what was said. The third official called everything. He seemed to think everyone was there to watch him and that's a shame.
Congrats to SP on its undefeated regular season and OVC title. Good luck to Ironton at OU next Saturday.

Believe me what he said was no reason to be asked to leave. I mean if you are cussing the ref that's one thing but I think he was being made an example of because the refs knew the Ironton fans were on them for all the fouls being called.
Just hope we don't see these guys at the Convo.
Good game between 2 good teams.

usahockey yes they were.....that was real classy of them considering that part was their older folks that were there.....the over-rated chant came from the student section which im fine with that i understand that the student section should yell stuff like that but i just dont like it when parents are basically making fun of kids b.c of the conference their in......not very classy out of the "adult" Ironton folks
