With all of the problems that this GAHS team has had thrown at them this year, they earned this hard fought win against a very good FU .
team. Both schools can be proud of their teams this year.

Their will always be arguements about whose League is better every year, but remember these are young men playing a game. No matter what league they play in, they play with pride.

Capt Jack, Love reading your posts.
Frozen Rope, Likewise I enjoy your posts

gahs4ever wrote:Anyway back to the game this thread is about. At halftime I mentioned how few fouls were called and how few free throws were attempted; a total of 8 attempts for both teams combined. Further I remarked how many times after such a foul free first half the second half wound up being a FT shooting contest. Here's the quote:

GAHS only shot the 1/1 once in the first half and I dont believe FU ever got into the bonus. How many times have you seen games like this where the whistles fly in the second half and games become a FT shooting contest? We'll see. GAHS 5/6 FT FU 2/2. Both teams shooting over 50% from field.

In the second half, GAHS was 8/16 from the FT line and FU was 7/12. 28 FTs in the second half compared to 8 in the first.

Since I wasnt at the game I am not prepared to say why that might have been tonight, but Ive often wondered if in the games where few fouls are called early that the athletes, being the competitors they are begin to get even more aggressive thinking they can get away with things. At the same time, officials pick up on this and wanting to keep control of the game perhaps get a little more picky than they had been.

At any rate, my observation held up tonight. GA shot 6 FTs in the first half and 16 in the second, and FU shot only two in the first half and 12 in the second. Made for a long fourth quarter and in a one point game made every attempt more pressure packed.

gahs,

Congrats to GA and Coach Osborne on a great win and sectional Championship tonight. Beyond all the other bickering going on with this thread, GA should be proud of themselves after rebounding from an horrific string of bad luck. Must be a dream for the kid to hit a buzzer beater at tourney time to move onto the Convo.

SEOAL represents well tonight. GA and Ironton get the W's.

GO CAVS!!!

This Gallipolis team has overcome a great deal, for them to be sectional champs is a great acheivment. This has always been the type of team that OZ gets to step up and overcome. I see our next opponet could be Greenfeild again. It seems like OZ has met his old assistant many times over the last several years. GO BLUE
