THE Peake vs. Poor Lil Ole Federal Hocking 2/16/08
moose,
Best post I have seen by anyone on this stupid thread. You can't really start comparing opponents, because this is a new season. The tourny has little to do with what you accomplished in the regular season. You get the seed because of your record, but that is about it, the rest is left out on the court. Seedings from #3 up are meaningless. Most of the time the margin of skill from the #3 seed to about #9 is so small that it is really pointless. Isn't Fairland a #3 seed that Chesapeake has knocked off two out of the three meetings.
Mawmaw, don't you remember the 20-0 Peake team that was knocked off in the Sectional Finals by an average Wheelersburg team? Remember the Chesapeake squad who was a #3 seed who were not even supposed to be in the same gym as Belpre in 2002, and the Peake knocks them off. This is why we play the games.
I think Chesapeake will win because they match up a little better that FH. FH seem to have some trouble in defense getting back in transition, I feel like the running game of Chesapeake can give them fits. I don't thik they are a great defensive team either, and Chesapeake has the ability to penetrate and kick and get open shots, so this could give them problems as well. Chesapeake relies on a lot of on the ball pressure to disrupt the flow of the offense, and I saw RV doing some of the same to give them problems. I think they are the more physical team, but athletically they are about even. This will come down to who takes care of the ball, gets good looks, controls the glass, finishes around the rim, and converts free throws. I think Chesapeake has a slight edge, JMHO. But we shall see

Good points peake. Each team has strengths and weaknesses. I hope FH can exploit some of Chesapeake's weaknesses and I'm sure you hope the opposite happens. The gist of the matter is which ever team manages to do so will win the game. These teams are very, very similar... Good Luck to both teams but....
Go Lancers.
Go Lancers.

Well, the night is young, but I'm going to go with....
63-60 FH in dramatic fashion......
and am basing my prediction on entirely nothing....
As for Cory McCune, Cory Vales, Kory Williams, and Jared Gandee, this will either be a huge win for the seniors with a trip to the Convo, or their last basketball game together. It seems like it was just yesterday when I was going to watch little cuz McCune play with these same guys in the biddy league/Jr High. Yikes. They have always played well together and been very successful. FH will miss these guys. Good luck.
Sorry if I spelled any names wrong. I always get those same name guys confused...

Let Ferd Hack take the underdog role into this one, I like it............
How do you get that FH is the "Underdog"? A 4 seed playing a 5 seed is hardly what I would consider underdog. What is FH's record anyway? a comparable record to ours if not better than ours?

Federal Hocking plays is a weak league, with a weak schedule, and they don't stand a chance against a team with Regional pedigree.

Lets see, Belpre is 3-0 is it's regional trips (93, 97 & 01), not a single run to the state as some would think.
LET GO LANCERS!!!

25 - 22 Chesapeake - don't know when in the game - 4:05 - 2nd qtr - 25-23 - Chessy
3:37 25- 25
i have to keep my hand on my radio to get reception - makes typing difficult
27 - 25 - fh up 2;00 left in half
1;05 left - 27-27
37 sec - no basket for either team - at the half - tied 27-27
Is there no one closer to Chesapeake/Huntington than I am in Ironton who is hearing better reception of this game on the radio than I am able to who can provide updates?
