bengalfan,
Would have me in tears. Then again, Coach might start coaching. He told me before the game, it was 4 minutes before half and I was going in. Bought back some fond times. He has a better memory then I do.
i was so happy seeing coach cuppett at the game. best ive seen him look in ages. and i see him everyday, as he lives across the street from me. as for the game, quite boring. i bet chilli scored 70 of their points inside the paint. was no need on shooting outside. the officials had quite a few people confused during the game. the 1 with the dark hair had an attitude with alot of the fans. heard him calling 1 guy out to come make that comment to his face......we all laughed ,because all he said was "watch the game". he wasnt very professional. but anyway, chilli needs to wake up . they act like they are going through the motions.
The best call was the one right before half time. They called a foul on the Cavs as Woodworth and the Boro kid were going after the errant pass in the post. We were bewildered, but I was more bewildered that Hillsboro did not get to shot the one and one. That was the Cavs 8th team foul.
The same guy made some mysterious calls all afternoon. I hope these guys season finished today.
Yes, the Cavs have to step it up. For some reason, we are playing to the level of competition. I still think the rotation today had something to do with it. Coach may have been saving the kids legs, but we need to let the horses out of the barns and let them run.
hitch, the call on woodworth was hilarious. both he and the defender just stood there as the ball sailed over their heads. neither fouled the other. at first, i thought he called the foul on the basketball. it was the only thing moving.....then he called hillsboro for back to back 10 second calls. the first was legit, but the 2nd couldnt have been more than 5-6 seconds.
hopefully the convo will bring the intensity back for Chilli. i wasnt able to make the game because of work schedule but it did sound as if they were a bit flat. we beat a much better boro team worse last year. but survive and advance. i talked to humpty shortly after the game and reminded him "stay out of foul trouble and make sure you do what it takes for your team to advance" he assured me he knew exactly what had to be done. hopefully we'll see it.
Just reviewed the Stats from the game yesterday. I believe they confirmed my earlier comments on the substitution pattern. Coach K. probably mixed the sub pattern up more then I saw last year at tourney time. Most of the time the bench gets shorter in the post season. Yesterday, our starters got about 2.5 qtrs of play, while Dawes did not get close to 2 full qtrs. Beverly was slightly over 2 qtrs. Hitchens and Chambers slightly under 3 qtrs.
With that said, this game probably could have been much worse, but a 28 pt win is a 28 pt win. I have to believe the minutes will go up for the Starters on Thursday, because we will have a week off if we win and advance.
i hate these once a week games. let alone having to travel to athens on a work night. but, its better than the season to be over. chilli starters NEED to start playing more than 2 1/2 qtrs. how many games have they done that this year? 14-15?

bronc,
My best guess is the starters got over 2 1/2 quaters (20 minutes) only about 9-10 times this year (if that). Just going through my memory bank, I cannot come up with 10. Here is a quick snapshot of mpg for the starters. These could be off somewhat as if you punch in for a second over a minute, I am sure it rounds up to a minute.
i just think its time for the starters to get more minutes so they can keep their legs into it . they are gonna need it when they get further down the tourney trail(I hope)
I think coach k is doing the right thing by substituting often, you never know when someone's number is going to get called, and they will need to step up right then and there. Ex. see stu his sophomore year when he began getting playing time and then has the huge game at Dublin where he his 6 three's.

pinappl...Why are you up so late or maybe your getting up early.....
I always agree with you, but this time I have to pass. We used the bench extensively during the season. The kids should be ready right now. I want the starters to get their minutes. If you remember last year, we shrunk the bench late in the year and in the tourney and went on a roll. Not sure if you were there Sat, but I just don't see the rhythm. We are subbing on a regular basis. If anything, I would have liked to see Mike Turner get out there earlier, as he has been playing some impressive D.
I still think Thursday, you will see 6-7 players in the 1st half and that is it.
