On January 25 Wheelersburg beat Waverly 60-36 and the two T's on Walls "sealed the deal" ?

Trevor Walls never was tee'd in either Wheelersburg game. He had an intentional foul in the first game in the second quarter. The only T given in either Wheelersburg/Waverly game was in the second game on Ramone Conley. It was his fourth foul and his coach pulled him for the rest of the game (it was with 1:19 remaining in the third.) The score was a 20 point difference at that point in that game.

Maybe he is referring to a different game? :?:

Don't recall any T's on Walls either vs Burg. What in the heck is the relevance of that remark??
So, someone doesn't like a ref? You don't like the calls. Every team DEALS with it and you gotta play anyway through the whole game once you understand the situation. I have more of a problem with a ref who makes a last second questionable call that might hand a team on one side or another a game.

The first foul was when Tyler Lang got a rebound and Justin grabbed his arm to knock it loose. (Got a decent picture of that one). The one you refer to was the second one--I think-- and I had an excellent view and it should never have been a jumpball. They should have called the first or second foul but waited until the third. Unfortunately, the third fouler was Justin. He deliberately hit his guy on the third foul to prevent a put-back. His last two fouls calls were good calls. With four fouls, you just have to let the breakaway lay-ups go and certainly not hit the shooter so hard and so loudly. On the floor you could easily hear the flesh on flesh smack. It would have been much smarter to give up the two points and stayed in the game because they needed him. (Wheelersburg got the two points anyway.)

Great game by the Pirates and way to hang in there in a tough, physical game.

Number 3 for HH(Josh Kellough) can light it up, but I think his lack of rest anytime during the game caught up to him late in the 3rd qtr. You could tell he just didn't have the same hops and if you don't have the legs, it makes it hard to shoot the long three's.

Play of the game to me was like someone said above when Dustin Cook deflected the ball and then dove on the floor to get the steal, got it to Drew, who made a nice pass to Matt Jenkins for the easy two points. Dustin has been one of the best 6th man in the area and it's ashame he didn't make even the All-SOC team. Nice game 12.

Refs I thought let alot go on both ends of the floor. You know the refs are bad if the doc is saying something about them. Can't wait to see the pics.

Burg needs to cut down on the turnovers and will need to rebound a little better on Wednesday against what will probably be a very physical Bishop Ready team.

Good luck Pirates in the regional semi-finals.

First, I never said the referees were bad. 90% of their calls and 'no calls' I agreed with. They could have called more fouls but then more than two would have fouled out. It was a different style than some are used to but both teams used it to their advantage--at times--and at times found it frustrating.

And secondly, Matt Jenkins didn't get two 'easy' points off that play. That was when he was fouled by Justin Kellough (who fouled out). He did put in the free throws and it was a turning point in the game. It made the difference seven points. Huntington never got it to less than five after that. And even at five it was only once and very briefly. Wheelersburg built pretty quickly to double digit lead that never dropped back to single digits. But it WAS an excellent hustle play by Dustin Cook.

the games i have seen at the convo, the refs miss a lot of traveling calls, and call to many make up calls after the crowed gets on them.

The funniest thing I saw or heard all night was when someone from the Huntington crowd yells, "Number 32 is pushing off!!" and then about 5 or so seconds later they call a pushing foul on #32 of Wheelersburg, Andy Stegman, for pushing when both players were shoving each other all over the place under the basket. Talk about letting the crowd influence the calls. lol

The Manchester/Oak Hill refs refused to call traveling or double dribble....I think there was 1 the entire game and it was in the 4th qtr. lol

I wasn't at the game Burg/Hunt....but I can guess two of the refs I bet!

A good example of why you can never completely trust scores, stats, etc. from ANYBODY....ANYTIME.... ANY PLACE.

From the OHSAA website:

Wheelersburg(#6) 67
Huntington Ross 47
Ohio University
Winner To
Athens Regional
Wheelersburg(#6) vs. COLUMBUS 2
District Winner

I thought the technical foul on the coach was ridiculous. It looked to me that the official was waiting for a reason to give him one, and he got it. I don't think it made any difference in the game as Wheelersburg was just too much for Huntington. It was just another example of an official making sure he gets noticed.

It looked like #3 was going to singlehandedly keep Huntington in the game but he just couldn't pull it off. On the other hand, Spradlin was just too tough to stop. He pretty much had his way on the inside when he wanted to.

Drew's inside game (and ballhandling) is a bonus.

I did not say Trevor Walls got two technicals in either of the Waverly/Burg games. I was referring to the Waverly/Unioto Sectional game in which the same official chose to determine the outcome of the game.

I said Wheelersburg was and is the better team. I don't think Huntington would have won the game but the T did change things.

I haven't seen anyone mention this in the thread yet but did anyone else hear Sweet Lou when he was starting the game? He was doing his whole basketball-thirty intro when he said, "someone (don't remember the name) knows what time it is". Then he said, "'AlabamaMike' knows what time it is". Then he went on with "it's basketball-thirty!!!!"

Did anyone else hear that? I thought that was pretty cool.

I am not sure how many times he has mentioned alabamamike, but that was not the first time. I am sure at least 3-4 times going back to last year.

Yeah, my good buddy and neighbor Alabama Mike has become quite the celebrity. The media frenzy makes it hard to get any sleep at night with all of the news stations and helicopters buzzing around the neighborhood at all hours of the night and day.

Yeah and when that happens, you always have some nut job stalker that wants to "be like Mike" and wants to become part of your world.

Don't worry Bama. We Burgites have your back. Just remember, it is duck and weave and run in a zig-zag pattern.
