watchin basketball and baseball just isn't the same as watchin a good, hard-hitting football game...there's just nothing else like it

Well, if you're wanting to see some hard hitting action, but don't want to wait until August, there's always high school rugby. Most of the Columbus area teams are already practicing, and the first games are scheduled for 2-3 weeks from now.
Its not quite the same as football -- there are no blockers, no receivers, etc. Instead, each team has 15 fullbacks on the field who double as linebackers.
