I would say if Coach Wolford gets half a chance the Ironmen will win by 100 this year!

Re: Jackson @ Wellston 2008
Back to football, and the handshake is in the past lets move on . This game will continue because of the ole mighty dollar $$$$. So lets get over that to.
Army I am pretty sure Wellston is going to run the ball more in 08. I am not sure from what formations , but they will try and establish a ground game . They will have some spread formations I am sure but not as much as last year.Wellston has some good athletes returning with some experience so I am looking for a better year.
The boy that I thought was going to transfer to Oak Hill I was told is staying but who knows , I will know for sure when camp starts I guess.

Re: Jackson @ Wellston 2008
I am not allowed to say anything anymore. Sorry, but yes Jaylen is a great player and he will help our school alot. We are really excited to have him in Wellston. I hope I said that respectfulenough for all of you. I wasn't announcing him on the basketball forum, I announced our whole team and schedule, thats all I did. We believe in team. The other posters ran with it and started on our Coach and team next year. Thats all I'm respectfully saying. Go ROCKETS and keep working hard.
Re: Jackson @ Wellston 2008
If Wellston can contain Jackson's mid-line option and stop their drop-pass over the side-line and continue to hold on through the late third quarter, keeping it close, the Wellston Golden Rockets, just might have them where they want them and be able to defeat the Ironmen this year.
That said, is a whole lot of situations. I don't know what kind of defense Wellston will run and what they have. Hopefully, they will pull together and this will be the Golden Rockets year. Good Luck to both teams.

Re: Jackson @ Wellston 2008
One player doesnt make a team. Wellston will have to improve alot to beat the Ironmen . I have seen some really good Wellston teams fall short . To say Wellston will beat Jackson 56-6 is just crazy, since the Rockets havnt won since 1989
. The Rockets have had some good teams since then 2001-2002-8-2 both years. 2004-2006 playoff teams and they couldnt get it done.
If the Prater kid is comming to Wellston thats great ,and I know he is a good player and should fit in with a very young and talented group of kids. Lets not hang that State banner just yet
Remember the Rockets didnt win a game last year on the field, just one on paper 2-0 over the Buckeyes of N-Y.
So let stop all this trash talk and talk serious football ,and hope for a good injury free game between two of the oldest rivals in Great the state of Ohio.

Re: Jackson @ Wellston 2008
What name does Landrum need in order to start at QB?
There have been a mess of solid/great football players come through Jackson football named Landrum.
I know who I think should get the nod to give us the best chance to win...but few on here will agree....so I'll just hush.
and stillballin.....the reffing at that game is among the worst I've seen at any level.
That all-sports talk is big! lol
sorry 02

I'd say the line on the game should be Jackson -35.
By the way Army, what exactly is a "drop-pass over the sideline"? Wouldn't that be an incomplete pass?

Well if you are speaking about the incompleted passes against Chillicothe last year I would say yes.

You all only have a few pass plays.

The one I am speaking about is the little sideline pass. It seemed to be one of Jackson's only pass plays in their inventory last season.
Hopefully they will add a few more.

If Wellston can stop your favorite mid-line option, you all have nothing left but maybe a sweep right or sideline pass. Hopefully the game will be close this season and Wellston will pull one off! So who will end up as your starting QB this season?

If you want, I'll give you 14 and a half points and quit my day job Indecent one.
Jackson will roll again in this one, but the kind folks working the gate will have a profitable evening.

By the way, Wellston will be better this year than last year(can't get any worse than 0-10). The addition of the Prater kid from VC will be an immediate factor for the Rockets. He is the real deal.

Re: Jackson @ Wellston 2008
boilermaker,
I went to Wellston last night and was impressed with the progress that the Rockets have made. They have some very talented skill players in Wilkett, Lockard, Prater, Seymour, and others. The offensive line looked pretty good at times, but I think Wellston's defense is still their question mark. They're better than last year at this point, but Peake had some success on the ground. I can definitely see Wellston as a TVC title contender if they continue to progress.
I did go to the Jackson-Meigs scrimmage. The teams each ran two sets of 10 plays to start things off. Jackson started slow, but eventually started moving the ball fairly well. Meigs was able to throw the ball with some success and scored on a long pass. The Jackson defender was in position to make the play, but the ball went through his hands, and the Meigs receiver made a nice grab.
After the two sets of 10 plays, they went down and distance for about 2 quarters. Jackson was able to run the ball very well and scored two quick TD's on a couple nice drives. The Ironmen were also able to punch in another score after a nice INT return by Eric Landrum. Near the end of the second quarter, Meigs scored on a mixture of Jackson's first and second string.
I left during the second string action, but Jackson was leading 2 scores to 0 at that point. The young Ironmen looked to be coming along pretty well.
Overall, I thought Jackson looked decent. They were able to get the running game going after a slow start. Cody Huff was VERY impressive and I look for him to have a great season for the Ironmen. Defensively, Jackson looked good against the run, but the secondary needs to step it up. The scrimmage this Friday against Wheelersburg will give Jackson a good indication of where they are at this point. They have some things they need to work on this week and I'm sure they will do just that.
