Congrats to Chilli.
Just think they didn't even win the league.

I saw at one point in the second quarter a glimpse of next years team as all under-classmen were on the floor and extending the lead.

Byesville is in the ECOL conference that I believe Zanesville may be trying to get into. Not sure if that is true. Byesville is right of the I70 and I77 split in Eastern Ohio and is about 30 miles East of Zanesville. It is actually right around the corner from Cambridge and we know there have been some excellent teams and players come out of that area.

GO CAVS!!! REFUSE TO LOSE!!! TAKE NO PRISONERS!!! 4 DOWN!

True they didn't win the league, but in all fairness they did beat the team that won the league so it's subjective.

From what I saw, Meadowbrook looked like Vinton County just not as good. They have a decent big man, Biggs 6'5" and a small shooter, Neff I think is his name, #3. They like to slow it down and work their offense. So I will see Chillicothe next week in Columbus.

According to the programs, #20, Phillip Biggs, senior is 6'5." I don't know what he is actually, I did not get a chance to stand near him.

No, I don't think so. Number 30 is a sophomore and yes he is six foot.

I was there tonight. Great Game CAVS :!: :-D

You all brought your A game for sure.

VC congrats on another great season. You have nothing but praise from me. In two seasons, you all lost what....three games total? Your record speaks volumes for your school, your community, the TVC-Ohio and Southeastern Ohio Basketball. Your kids played with heart even when our CAVS were up 40 plus. Good Luck next season. I am sure you will be right back at the Convo.

Alright CAVS, lets get ready for the Regional Final :!: :-D

GO Cavs refuse to lose :!: :-D

Roll Big Blue and White to Victory :!: :-D

GO SEOAL :!: :-D

First off congrats to VC and the fine season that you all had this year. It doesn't matter if it was one point or fifty points that was the final margin they can't take the district title away from you. It was the first time in the regionals and hopefully your program takes a lesson from that and continues to build. The leadership is there for you to have continued success in hoops for the foreseeable future. I have a lot of friends in VC and have enjoyed seeing both the boys and girls program get elevated. Continuity in the programs is something that has been lacking for years but Coach Combs and Coach Ward has changed the mentality and has translated into success.

Congrats to the Cavaliers as they learned there lesson against Logan Elm and came out prepared to play. Caleb and Dawes came out and set the tone and Beverly got hot and provided much needed scoring besides Humty. When others contribute and score the Cavaliers become very hard to beat because there are so many scoring threats and then it opens opportunities for Hitchens to have the kind of 3rd quarter he did. It's going to take that kind of effort and team play to keep a magical season going. For the players don't listen to the community about Meadowbrook they are there for a reason and can very easily knock you off if you come out flat. The lessons from the LE game is that tourny wins aren't easy and in order to cut the nets down Saturday an effort and performance like tonight will be needed to assure that.

To the other Chillicothe posters please be cordial to the Viking posters and to Dustin "Dut" Guthrie. He is a great player and obviously had a brilliant career at VC. Put yourself in their shoes and understand that this loss would be hard to take after the historic season they had. Heck they only have experienced 3 losses the past 2 years. The way to gain more fans is to be respectful to the teams you beat and they will in turn pull for you the rest of the way. I know if it was the other way around I would be pulling for the Vikings to keep it going.

Congrats Cavs keep it going!!!!!!

pinapplrdhwk wrote:Well you know what, after hearing all of the praise, from VC fans, this week to Guthrie i sure expected him to be, and play like the next shaq. It's not called being classless when i'm stating the facts, and the fact is is that i stated if chillicothe brought their A game it wouldn't even be a remotely close game.

What were Guthrie's stats any ways. I was also told that RAY didn't even play the entire 2nd quarter????

My dad stayed and watched the 2nd game and said that the only way Chillicothe doesn't make it to the Schott is if they play worse than they did against LE.

Keep it going Cavs.

The only way the Cav's don't make it to the Schott is that there bus break's down on the trip to Athen's saturday :122245

close mobster man, it was actually the time of day when i signed up.

as for this game.......this is the chillicothe team i'm used to seeing. it seemed that most of the people i talked to last night after the game had the same feelings. lets keep this thing going fellas. hopefully this weather holds off and ALL of chilli shows up to support these young men. they deserve it.

congrats to VC on a great season. you have nothing to hang your heads about. you all should be very proud of this team. good luck to the vikings next season and hopefully we can meet at the convo again next year.

A couple of things here. Chillicothe is a great team that played unbelievably well last night. You really have to recognize just how good they are. Chillicothe did not run the score up in any fashion. This is the regional tournament and coaches are coaching to get their kids ready for the next game. The Cavs just thoroughly outplayed the Vikings on this particular night. I would like someone to show me a team that could beat them the way they shot the ball last night. In the first half I think Chambers and Hitchens combined for 9 points. That means their "others" scored 31! Its hard enough to contain their two big guns, so when everyone else is contributing its next to impossible to defend them.

so i guess my statements earlier about vc being an ok team arent so absurd now are they?

Actually, that is an absurd statement. VC was in the sweet 16, and was beaten by one of the best high school teams I have ever seen. I think most people that understanad the game of basketball would agree that teams that win a district championship are a little better than OK.

Yes, there are better than OK. There are a 100 plus other D II schools that would have love the chance to play for a regional championship, no matter the opponent.

Exactly. Vinton County had an exceptional year. Each and every player on the team got the most out of his ability. This team continued to suprise me with their focus and knack for over-achieving. I feel as if VC just ran into the proverbial "buzz saw" last night. Chillicothe is an outstanding team and were due for a break-out game in the tournament. It just so happens that their break-out game was against VC.
It's a shame that for a year or so, the departing seniors will have this final game to look back on as their identity, (which it most certainly is not) . I just hope that after the sulking is over, they will be able to see what they accomplished and how proud they made each and every member of their supporting community.
