From what I heard, the Stapleton kid from West Union was hurt. I am sure he was a favorite to win if he were to be healthy. I believe they also let under-classmen get in it but not the 3-pt shootout. They use to let anyone in the county get in but older guys were continuing to come in and win.

Evan was hurt..but he played and he was in the dunk contest...you could tell he was favoring it.

I agree with you on Peebles in the small school division of the SHL, but I think North Adams will be the dominant team in the big school division.

Lynchburg in the big school? I would think this would be a down year for the mustangs. North Adams in my opinion will be one dominate force in the SHL. I also believe that West Union will be a lot better than what people are considering. Coach Brewer has them working hard in the weight room and in open gyms.

I agree that North Adams will more than likely be a dominant team in the SHL this year. They have tons of experience and lots of talent.

I also agree that West Union could be a surprise team in the league. Coach Brewer will do a good job with them this year.

Peebles will be pretty decent, but time will tell how good they will be. They have talent but are lacking in a couple areas.

what exactlly is peebles lacking? i think their biggest shortcoming could be selfishness not just the players but the parents as well.

Sparky,

Last year, Peebles lacked on the inside. They struggled on the boards and post play was almost not there at all. I think that is a big area that they will continue to lack in this year. The other area was as a team on the defensive end and I can see them continue to struggle in this area as well. But as I said time will tell.

Being a D-4 school Manchester had a pretty good tournament path to take advantage of, they only had to win 1 I think, to get out of the sectional? Peebles defeated 2 very good teams as a #13 seed to win the sectional tournament, They really started coming together close to the end of the season, hopefully they can build on that and pick right back up. Sparky, I think you're way off target with the selfishness comment, First of all remember that kids read these posts too and that kind of comment isn't very encouraging, Second, you must not know these kids. People want to assume that just because you have a stand-out player that there is jealousness from the others, selfishness on his part. Again, not with this group.

Manchester made it to the District finals and gave Oak Hill a great game. If I remember right, it was very close in the first half, then Oak Hill took over in the second half. I believe Oak Hill did shoot a lot more free throws in the second half than did Manchester. Manchester lost the West kid which will be a huge lose. I believe someone said he averaged a double-double last season. Against Oak Hill, I know he guarded their big boy and shut him down. The kid had some of the quickest hands I have seen in awhile. Hopefully they have someone to step up and take his spot. I did see on an Ironton post that they will be playing the Greyhounds this season. I have to go with Peebles in the small school and North Adams in the big. However, every game in the small school division will be a battle night in and night out!
