South Gallia 2008-09
What do you think will happen with this team. Should be interesting and a completely new team. Should be younger and quicker!!!
Re: South Gallia 2008-09
How did they play together at the JV level?
If they didn't mesh well with each other then there may be a little bit of a 'getting to know how you play' period.
Of course everyone knows that I want all SG teams to win all of their games!

I actually think that they will be better than what most people think. Like football this is the kind of year that can be enjoyable to be arround as you watch the kids grow and develope.
GO REBELS!

I have been at South Gallia for several years now at the JV level. I have been part of an undefeated season and a 38 game winning streak. This year the JV rebels overcame all kinds of adversity. They ended up 7-9 but played with everything they had and left it on the floor. This has been the funnest and most proudest team I have ever coached. Next year varsity team will be a completely different team. Totally different style. Should be fun.

When the talent and experience levels are down a little, it makes you feel good as a coach when you can see the kids grow both on the court/field and off the court/field as young men.

Fixed it. Just didn't want any disputes on here especially about things dealing with the kids, since I am not the smartest person on here when it comes to basketball.

I think the team should be pretty good next year. They can win a sectional title. They have Caleb McClanahan and Jacob Watson with quite a bit of varsity experience. Also, they have a good group of sophomores comin gup that will help.Good luck boys.Go Rebels.

Its a little early to be stating the starters. I have to admit that the freshmen will be putting some heat on the rest of the team. As for the 8th grade playing the JV. In a normal situation it wouls of been totally different. We matched up with the 8th grade and were working on things. The JV could've put a press on that would of ran this team out of the gym. If I remember right we just ran the trapping zone and had something like 10 straight steals and then we quit doing that to them.......trust me in a normal situation I would of stayed with what worked. High School is alot different than Jr. High. The freshmen will have to adjust but coming in and becoiming starters before practice has even started is a little much to say. I am not saying it cant happen but alot of work has to be done.

YOU STATED VERY EASILY!!!!!!
They handled what they were dealt......I know if different cards were put on the table a very different outcome would happen!!!

Re: South Gallia 2008-09
yes it is early but the JV could handle danny and dalton and when you say the press would run them out the gym your crazy the boys are a team and play like one the JV didnt play together they tried to do every thing on there own if the JV played like a team they could have beat the but the 8 grade beat them by 26 pionts in the scrimmage so how would you run them out the gym

Re: South Gallia 2008-09
Wow, someone kept score at a jv/8th grade scrimmage against their own school. I have news for you....the JV were only there to help the 8th grade. I am pretty close to the JV coach at South Gallia. Him and Mr. Lusher got together before the practice and explained what needed to be worked on. The two JV guards could apply full court pressure and create all kinds of pressure. Since noone ever pressed the 8th grade we never pressed. I believe if so Dalton and Danny might have a better chance getting the ball up court. But I dont see Dalton or Danny ever becoming point guards so that will never happen. Scores dont matter in a scrimmage. The JV coach kept giving the ball back to the 8th grade no matter how many times they scored. Danny and Dalton would've both been in foul trouble due to blocking shots. I have an idea......dont make comments on here to create individualism. I dont think it would be a good idea saying the freshmen coming up will take all the spots. The JV coach will be fair as always and play to win. But, if their is any problems in the "TEAM" they also would be dealt with.
Why dont you talk about how they shouldve beat Chesapeake but didn't. What they need to work on. What could've been done differently. If they would've taken better shots at the end of the game. How to play better from behind. Instead, you guys talk about how the freshmen group coming up beat on the JV team. How will the JV team feel about the freshmen after those comments? Why do they need a JV coach if the team is already set? Wow, think before you type please. Matter of fact, the best thing to do is dont "RESPOND." I see why you are called MRS> COACH!!!!

Yes, Dalton and Danny could very well be emmediate impacts and they also work very hard if you push them. Varsity is a huge step for any freshmen. It took curt Waugh half the season to be an impact as a freshman and he too was a special player.
