Division III
First Team
Clay Roll (Adena), Josh Kellouogh (Huntington), Kraig Unger (North Adams), Bryant Gibson (Westfall), Drew Spradlin (Wheelersburg).
Second Team
Justin Kellough (Huntington), Sean Smith (Minford), Blake Justice (Peebles), Cody Smith (Piketon), Matt Miller (Zane Trace).
Third Team
Jordan Cierley (Eastern Brown), Jacob DeHaas (Lynchburg Clay), Jordan Brabson (Piketon), Nate Cadogan (Portsmouth), Boyce Jordan (Portsmouth West), Kirk Maxwell (Zane Trace).
The only thing I don't agree with is Gibson over Smith for 1st team.

Re: District 14 Coaches Association Team
I also question Gibson being named first team. I believe Justin Kellough, Cody Smith and the young Freshmen Blake Justice from Peebles deserved the nod before Bryant. Not taking anything away from him, he is a great player, but i just think the others were more deserving. Congrats to ALL of the SVC players that made the list. And its nice to see all of the underclassmen from the SVC that made the list. Should be an exciting year next year. Congrats to Josh Kellough for the POY nod, and good luck in representing the SVC in the North/South All-Star Game. It will be interesting to see how he plays against the best of the best. I think he will prove some doubters wrong!

Re: District 14 Coaches Association Team
Looks really political to me, especially when the Wheelersburg girls team that went to the regionals couldn't get a single girl named to FIRST OR SECOND team, when their team beat many of the other league's teams and clearly has very talented girls who deserved to be named to the first or second team, even if they don't average big scoring numbers. Just scoring points really isn't the only indication of a good player, and coaches of all people should KNOW that. So, a McDonald's All American nominee DI signee who led his team with 25 pts, 16 rebounds a handful of steals and blocks, acc. to the paper) to the regionals when they BEAT Huntington Ross, isn't the player (or co-player?) of the year??????????????? Matt Jenkins is also a WAY better player than many of the others, ....it's just obvious that all the coaches from one league seem to have gotten together and consciously or unconsciously vote for players in their league or they simply only look at numbers (read points). btw--- Why in the world is Ken Massie an assistant for the DI and DII teams, too? -- Numbers aren't the only indication of players who are good. Could be some take way more shots and don't play within an offense than others, but that doesn't make them better PLAYERS. The best players get good numbers, play on both ends of the court, and also make their teammates better, and I thought coaches might know that. Don't get me wrong, many of the kids are indeed really good offensive players and they deserve to be honored, and Massie is a good assitant coach, but this whole thing reeks a little of political you scratch my back and vote for my kids and I'll vote for yours.... I guess everyone knows its pure politics by now, just like the seeding often is. I think Burg just got a little political bump.

Re: District 14 Coaches Association Team
Coaches vote should be made verbally in front of all coaches, so that scratching your back stuff will be seen by others. Not trying to take anything away from the kid, but Gibson should not be on the 1st team. Spradlin was clearly the best player in Div.III SE District.

Doesn't matter, anyway. Most everyone knows how the awards game works, anyway. So, my advice is not to take getting such an award so seriously that it goes to someone's head, and likewise, not to take not getting one terribly hard, either. Nice to get one, say thanks, and that's all.

Re: District 14 Coaches Association Team
I counted about ten teams from one league and maybe three from another league. Seems obvious what goes on. Guess what league got nearly all their players on the first team?
Re: District 14 Coaches Association Team
Politics are also a huge factor during the tourney draw. Once again, coaches scratching each others back. The only people that get hurt during all of this are the kids but often not even thought about.
