It makes you look so smart saying how week the tvc is yet year in and year out many tvc schools would win state titles in wv in various sports. You dont hear anybody saying how wv is the (wfsia)

River Valley is D-4. They should have to compete in the Ohio. It's really what they want anyway. It's time for them rondeau it up in all sports and build programs. They're nit a small school for this area. Being in the Hocking with schools half their size would have been pathetic, even though teams like Trimble and Wahama are top notch and can beat most teams they play in our area despite their size.

rv closer enrollment with wahama, fh, blepre, trimble than athens, vc. better off to move to the split hocking division to start. compete and win for a few years there before moving up to take on the big boys. already made that mistake once when you joined the seoal. how did that work out for you?

superintendant not allowing sg and rv to play is about the dumbest thing ever. someone needs to explain the benefits of the rivalry to that woman. how much longer she gonna be there?

They would make to much money at the gate if they played year in year out, would hate for that to happen right.

4thpine, with all due respect, the TVC Ohio is a far cry from the old SEOAL.

River Valley was competitive in the SEOAL the first few years weren't they? The Sup would rather ALL the sports programs fail and/or be taken away, to her they are simply a bother.

Look at the enrollment numbers those first few years compared to now. I'm almost certain RV had over 300 boys when the schools first consolidated for the 92-93 school year. Since then SG opened in mid to late 90's taking 100??? boys. Add to that the continued decline in enrollment. Last I saw RV was down to aronnd 190 boys.

RV today is a far cry from what it was when they were competing in the SEOAL.

River Valley is listed as having 190 boys!
They have more than Alexander-171, Wellston-188, and Nelsonville-York-151....

Should NY, Wellston, and Alex all run over to the Hocking division????

If you guys are going to bring up numbers then lets look at the TVC-Ohio numbers....

Athens-297

Vinton County-271

Meigs-209

RIVER VALLEY-190

Wellston-188

Alexander-171

Nelsonville-York-151

Looking at those numbers from the OHSAA website, I would say that RV will fit in the Ohio just fine. They are right in the middle for enrollment. Almost all of the TVC schools are shrinking in numbers so RV should stay right in the middle. River Valley is in a going to be able to compete in all sports in the TVC-Ohio, It will take a few years but they will be fine.

No, no, no... that's not what I was saying. I was only commenting toward the posts about RV competing in SEOAL years ago. Was only pointing out the large drop in enrollment after SG was opened.
RV fits in very well numbers wise with Meigs, Wellston, NY and Alex. Not so much VC and Athens.
What are the numbers for FH, Belpre and Wahama?

I would guess Wahama would be close to those FH numbers. Probably a few less.

Wahama is probably closer to Trimble in terms of Male enrollment.

RV definately belongs in the Ohio!!!! Why would they want to play Div 5 & 6 schools???? I know theyve been down for a while, but youre not going to get any better playing smaller schools!!!! IF RV played in the Hocking and IF they went undefeated they would never see the playoffs!!! with that being said i think with the young kids that RV has coming they could suprise some people in the very near future!!!

6.Coal Grove is the smallest school in the OVC with around 300 kids
5.Chesapeake is next
Rock Hill,River Valley,South Point all around 400 kids
1.Fairland is the biggest 470 kids i think last I checked

River Valley is one of the rare schools in Ohio who is gaining enrollment incoming 9th grade class around 150 kids
incoming 10th grade class around 150 kids

I honestly look for RV to win about half their games this fall.

What are the numbers for FH, Belpre and Wahama?
RV has defeated Meigs 3 times in the last 2 years in Basketball
Alex in 2008-2009 in Football
Wellston 2009-2010 Basketball (sectional)
Nelsonville York 2 times in 2010-2011 in Basketball
They will be fine

Fed Hock and Belpre are both div 4 Football and 3 in Basketball all that matters

Did not play Alex in football 08 or 09. Last wins vs Alex 2003 and 2007.

I think RV will be fine in the Ohio.....I too am looking for big time improvement for the Raiders this fall.

Big question, are they playing at the new stadium this year?? I drove over by it yesterday and it looked very nice! Proud to be a Raider alum!!

GO RAIDERS!!
