Hopefully River Valley will surprise some people, especially with the excitement of moving into the new stadium at Bidwell.

Re: OVC 2012
As a Fairland district poster, this is my opinion..
Coal Grove will be the favorite.
Rock Hill will lose too much to be a favorite. They should have been a contender this year.
Chesapeake lost too much to be a contender. They should have won it this year.
South Point has too much indecision regarding who should be coach & might lose some kids.
River Valley is the unknown. They could be anywhere in the mix. I look for them to jump at least 2 or 3 spots.
Fairland has too much turmoil behind the scenes.

I have every confidence in the work that Coach Sparling and the boys are doing. I have NO confidence that the stadium will be completed.
I look for them to shock some people, but I look for them to play their home games in Cheshire, yet again.

I am actually going to change this up a little bit,,,,actually a whole lot.

Coal Grove returns some good talent and will have a passing game to go along with a running game that will be questioned until it shows itself.
River Valley showed a lot last year in the game against the Grove and if they can get that kind of game out of their boys every week then they are going to be in a lot of their games.
Peake is losing a lot of great talent, so this season will show how good of a coach that Clark really is.
I truly believe that it is do or die time out in Rock Hill, if they don't get it done this year then some whole sale changes need to be made in the coaching staff.
Fairland seems to be having internal issues that need to get fixed before it affects the team.
As for South Point, no need to beating this dead horse anymore than what has already been posted on another thread.

Actually, I think West and Valley shared the title last year with both going 4-0 against the OVCHigh Plains Drifter wrote:West again
In all seriousness, I look for Coal Grove to be the team to beat in the OVC in 2012.
Re: OVC 2012
I agree with what you have to say. If the OVC does not improve next year I am not sure there will be some changes. I am not sure that the league in general is watching out for what is best for the entire league. After what happened at SP and the trouble that seems to be @ both Fairland and Rock Hill the AD's need to get together and make sure when changes happen is what is best for the entire upgrade of the league. The SOC seems to do a good job with their league and AD/Coaches making sure they are aligned in the best interest of the league.2trap_4ever wrote:2trap_4ever wrote:I will take the Grove to win the OVC and Rock Hill to suprise a lot of people this year.

I will add one more thing if the attendance keeps falling off the kids will loose interest and everyone in general loose interest in the league and it will fall apart.

Re: OVC 2012
I believe Chesapeake and Coal Grove will be the front runner, although Chesapeake loses a whole lot (Hintz, Noble, Noble, Mcmaster, Wells, Pike, Mcfarland, Nichols) they still return a solid corps of upper classmen that have some experience and will push for th OVC title on offense they return 4 starters (Thompson, Mccoy, Jones, Mcmilian) and 2 key subs (Meadows, Clagg) taking over at QB will be Sr. Caleb Lindsey who doesn't have the arm strength as Mcmaster but his play fake ability and speed will help him tremendously, also there is a group of guys that will do a nice job filling in on the line these players could have started last year on another OVC teams line besides CG and CHS. The demension of the Panthers squad this year will have to change no doubt about it bc they dont have their usual dual running back threat last year (Hintz, Jones and Nichols) and greats from the past (Hunt, Hunt) (Waugh, Hunt) and so on.

It seems the AD's really dont have a say. At least thats what happened at SP. The Super and AD were both on the search committee I believe and their opinions were snubbed 3-2 by the BOE. Politics and the buddy system is killing the OVC.
Re: OVC 2012
From what Im hearing another buddy system is about to weaken the OVC further. Rumor is Coal Grove is about to lose a coach because parents are mad their kids didnt get enough playing time.

Re: OVC 2012
Anyway back to my breakdown of Chesapeake, LOL. Now for their "D". I think this will be Chesapeakes strong point in the coming year, they return two interior lineman that got really good minutes last year (McMilian, Harris) finding the two d-ends shouldn't be to hard to find (Carpenter, Strait) the Strength of the "D" returns with both middle backers (McCoy, Meadows) also two returning starters in the secondary (Thompson, Lindsey) there are still a few gaps to fill but over all i think chesapeake could have another 7 win season!

82 kids signed up to play is what i am hearing.
Jr high programs are doing well.
Youth League teams are strong.
Things looking up in Raiderland!

Re: OVC 2012
Why, then, is the track team practicing in the driveway? Here's a clue:
They aren't allowed to use the facility and are being told they won't this year.
Things are looking much the same as ever on that front.
Sparling, however, is changing the kids culture. That's a WONDERFUL thing. He's a keeper and he is doing great things with those kids, all 82 of them. I just hope dumb stuff like the refusal to finish a project like the stadium don't inspire him to seek greener pastures.

Re: OVC 2012
Those type of things will weigh on a coach I am afraid to say. The parents need to take action and have a voice with this situation, I mean River Valley is getting ready to start life in the TVC here in a few years and a new stadium would be nice to half when you start that journey.

Re: OVC 2012
I believe Chesapeake finalized the deal with South Point so when SP is on the road Peake will play their scheduled home games on SP field. Work will begin on the field when spring is in full swing in hopes of being on the new field for the last 2 games or at least the last home game.
