Oh that shot rolled around I thought it was going to fall out
i thought he was going to dunk it for a second
i thought he was going to dunk it for a second

so did everyone in attendance. although IMO if he had tried to go for the dunk i think that time may have expired before the ball would've went through.

I'm still amazed at the great comeback Chillicothe had in this game. I knew that they had it in them but they seemed to play poorly early on in the game. But, did they ever comeback. Wow. What a game. The place absolutley erupted after Chambers laid the ball in for the win. Like many people have said on here, I thought the ball was going to roll out. That would have been a disaster. But, the ball thankfully went in and now Chillicothe has a state championship. What a season, and what a game. Unreal.

I was thinking the same thing.I think you're right,he wanted to get the shot up as soon as possible. If he showboated as most kids might he may have come up short.Hollywood couldn't write a script that would have ended any better.A true movie ending for sure. But this was reality!

Re: Congrats to Chillicothe DIV II STATE CHAMPS!!!
So I saw video of the final shot and slowed it down.
After watching it in slow motion, let me say this......someone was looking out for the Cavs on Saturday.
The ball went above the shooting square on the backboard. It is amazing that it didn't fall outside of the basket, especially since Ray put so much behind the shot.
Congrats to the Cavs.
By the way, the West Virginia State recruiters were talking Coach Kellough's ear off about Ray after the Zanesville game in Zanesville. They are certainly interested in him, but I think he is going to a Division I school.

By the way, Sports Time Ohio programming says that there will be a re-run of the game tonight at 8:00 p.m.

SPARKY-I think Ray went to Aiken.
On the Chambers and Hitchens recruiting talk. Anyone closer to the program than I am correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Ray's top-choice as of Sat morning at 10:45 was Wright State. I'm sure he'll have some more schools in the mix.If not, then I'm more ignorant to the game of basketball than I previously thought. Imagine him in college weight program.WOW!
I was thinking to myself about Humpty giving a verbal to Akron(I don't believe NLI day for B-ball has passed yet) I bet the coaches from Akron are a nervous wreck. Verbals are as good as the paper they're written on.lol NLI day can't possibly seem farther away for them. I figured they'd be at the reception to help Humpty off the bus.lol i've been in that situation before in a different sport of course, but as a coach you can only hope the kid sticks to his word. But, who could blame him if a bigger school stepped in after his post-season performance?
I just hope both of them have kept their grades in line and do well on the ACT's. It'd be a shame to see academics end a bright career prematurely, although it happens all the time. But, if so, you always have Jr College.
Good luck to the entire SR class. On a team that deep, I'm sure a couple of those guys that were role players could play at D-3 schools.
Once again, Congrats! Now , lets carry this excitement on to the baseball and football teams! It's a good time to be a CAV!

Re: Congrats to Chillicothe DIV II STATE CHAMPS!!!
Just got done watching the game after I'd taped it. I was at a wedding Saturday and was unable to watch it live.
Man, what a ballgame. I talked to a guy at the wedding who went to the game and he said it was the best game he has ever watched and after watching it, I'd have to agree. Chilli was down big in the 3rd but refused to give up and fought back to finally take the lead.
That game should have never went to overtime, but Libbey just got the bounces their way in the last few seconds of regulation.
That kid from Libbey that hit the two free throw's with 5 seconds left in the OT has pure ice water in his veins. I don't think either shot touched the rim and then Hitchens flying down the court was probably fouled at least twice, but neither was called. How Libbey lost sight of Chambers was very shocking. It was almost as if they were thinking that there was no way Chilli could get a shot if in 5 seconds. Well they did and now the hardware is in their school.
Way to go Chilli. Way to represent Southeastern Ohio. With the 2 state championships down this way in the last 3 years, maybe this part of the state will start getting some respect.

Re: Congrats to Chillicothe DIV II STATE CHAMPS!!!
For any Cavs fan looking for State Championship merchandise, shirts will be going on sale this week and at the parade next Tuesday. This will be handled by the CBBC (Chillicothe Boys Basketball Club). We will most likely do a one week deal and then everything after that will be on a pre-sale basis. Right now we are looking at T-Shirts and Hoodies. Students and Teachers can purchase at the High School. Others can contact the following:
Linda Knights 772-4516
Monica Hitchens 773-1727
Leave a message with name and number.
T-Shirts will be $15.00
Hoodies will be $25.00
Hats and other merchandise to follow:

Hitchbone64: Next season I expect to see you at the Portsmouth--Chillicothe game with a STATE CHAMPION t-shirt on!!
Enjoy the state championship of your alma mater. Wear that shirt proudly, and often. I wore my red Portsmouth Trojans sweatshirt at the Zane Trace tourney game with the 4 state titles embroidered on it.
State championships NEVER get old, and you NEVER will get tired of talking about it. It's just part of being in a special fraternity. Welcome to the club!!

trojandave,
I just might change my whole wardrobe into Cavalier State Championship gear. Not sure if it works with the office dress code at work, but what the heck.
I will definitely be wearing it with pride. Right now, we are just buried trying to put stuff together (but it is all fun). Parade next week and then banquet.....

bronc,
We will be selling them at the parade. Also, will be taking orders for the DVD of the game. Finally, bumperstickers will be available as well.
As for the shirts, we have sold a bundle of them all ready. I do hope we get a great turnout and good weather. The kids deserve it.
Also, we will be getting hats etc, out there soon.
