I've been told this is going to be one of the fastest teams we've ever had.

I think one of the best things about this year's team is the depth we have. There are a lot of quality players at several positions so no one should get tired. This team is fast but it will also wear some people out in the third and fourth quarters. The real test is Lancaster. If the Chiefs get by them, look out!
Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Logan Chieftains
it seems that game should be in week 10 with lancaster
why so early

Hello Logan fans. My first post here. Great site and board from what I've seen today. First I must say how sorry I am for the loss of #45 Corey Kissling. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, sorry if I am late on that. Logan had a great team last year, how many besides Wallace rec'd schollies and are there any offers yet this year?
I love the pics of the new field and stadium, very nice. Good luck and Go Chiefs.

Welcome to SEOPS.
I don't think anyone besides Alex received scholarships to continue playing football.
I believe Michael Angle will be joining former teammate Bryce Bumgardner at Otterbein, and Lucas Wright is going to OU and may try to walk on the football team there.

Thanks Locos. It seems like any kid who is 1st or 2nd team all Ohio would get offered last year. Great team, hard working kids. Win the state in '08.

Camp just wrapped up there. 2-a-days start next Thursday, July 31st. Not sure if it will still be at the Rich building by then or over at the new field.

They are hoping to get onto Logan Chieftain Stadium for two-a-days, but it will depend on the construction.
August 8 is the scrimmage with Circleville, I would imagine they will be on the turf by the 7th at the latest.

Do you know if 2-a-days are open to the public? There is an inter-squad scrimmage on the 6th.

I haven't really gone out to two-a-days before. I've gone out a couple of times to take pictures. As far as I know they are open though.
I've gone to the inter-squad scrimmage before. I can't make it anymore since I live in Columbus and have to work for a living, LOL.

I think I'll try and break down each class over the next week. I'll start with the Sophomores:
Does anyone know much about the sophomore class? I've only seen them play a limited amount. I followed them in the Logan Daily as best I could last year.
Here are the names I know of and am keeping an eye on to see time with the Varsity or significantly with the JV:
Jesse Arnold, OT (will have a shot at starting IMO)
Kyle Guess, RB/WR/LB/DB (will see time somewhere, defense or offense)
Dylan Cavinee, WR/LB (good size for a receiver)
Nathan Chandler, TE/DE (I have him here on size only)
Isaiah Eggers, TE/LB? (I have him here b/c of his brother)
Brandon Graham, RB/WR/DB (had a great track season)
Jordan Jurgensmier, QB/DB (could be the JV QB if Jordan Rutter plays too much varsity)
Clayton Kiger, OL/DL (great size, his brother was a great 2-way player)
Tim King, OL/DL (big boy)
Tom Patzkowski, FB/LB (solid linebacker, haven't seen him much)
Jonathon Teal, OL/DL (another kid with size)
Here are the other kids from last years team:
Ryan Aubin
Lance Ballinger
Malachi Bluhm WR/DB
Joseph Braglin WR/DB
Rodger Brown OL/DL
Kenneth Buckler RB/LB/DB
Garrett Clark OL/DL
Brian Cook WR/RB/LB
Cody Cooper
Tyler Dement OL/DL
Matt Hall RB/LB
James Herb RB/LB
Jacob Hood WR/DB
Matt Horton OL/DL
Nathan Lawson WR/DB
Robbie Lawson WR/DB
Austin Phillips WR/DB
Nate Poling RB/DB
Jessie Randolph TE/DE
Alex Rose WR/DB
Josh Vorhees OL/DL
Steven Woltz TE/DE
Austin Wyrick TE/DE
If anyone has anymore information please feel free to share. I'd be glad to make additions and/or corrections to the above information.
Go Chiefs!

I just listed every kid that was on the freshman team last year. It's normal to have a numbers drop between 9-10 grade.
That's too bad if Guess isn't playing. He's a nice athlete that I'm sure could have contributed somewhere this season. But, the best part about it is that this team has so much depth at so many positions he will not be missed.

Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Logan Chieftains
I liked the term "The Reservation" that I used to use back in 1999 on WLGN. I also like the "Big Tee Pee" or something like that. I also heard WLGN will not be doing games for Logan this year after several years of "warning" the fans they wouldnt be carrying them only to have them back. Well; I guess now they have finally chosen to not do the games. Can someone explain this logic to me?? They have been carrying games since like 1970 and now the "Bull" wont do the games? I feel bad for the fans that dont make it to games and want to listen on the radio, I hope the new little station they have will reach enough people. And no "Guru" this fall in the Logan area.....where will he turn up next... kinda like "Where's Waldo?" Where's the Guru?!?!?

Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Logan Chieftains
Wow!!! LGN is not broadcasting the games
How long have they been doing the games? Forever, I think. It won't affect me because I'll be at all of them (God willing) but that is definitely a loss. I won't believe it until it happens. That has to be someone's idea of a joke or rumor-mongering.

Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Logan Chieftains
Based on what I have heard from several people including one I really trust, it aint happening and the other smaller station is carrying the games. 106.7 I think??
From 106.7 Website:
New school. New field. New home on the dial.
This year, the Logan Chieftains will enjoy the new school, new field, and new neighbors (The Net is just 2 properties away!). Local non-profit radio The Net will now carry home and away games on 106.7 and 104.7! It's a comunity partnership.
Familiar Voices
The same great broadcast team who brought you Logan Chieftain games in the past are at it again! Scott Vermillion and Cullen Rutter will host the broadcasts for home and away games in 2008. And The Logan Daily sports columnist Craig Dunn will join in for a portion of the broadcast! The Net will bring you the complete game coverage including pre-game, play-by-play, commentary, post-game and more with our new, unique style.
More local sports than ever.
Logan-Hocking Sports is more than football! During the 2008-2009 season, The Net is committed to being your source for games as we broadcast the complete football schedule plus boys and girls basketball games. And if the Chieftains get to the playoffs/tournament, we will be there.
There you go!!
