I know Logan Elm will be very good, but I have seen the 2008-09 Cavaliers vs. the Trojans at a shootout, and even without Seth Dawes, they look really good. If the other guard opposite Knights....whoever that my be.....steps up, the Cavaliers have a formidable frontcourt in 6-5 Ron Smith, 6-5 Seth Dawes, and 6-7 Malik London. That spells trouble for a lot of opponents, and CHS could very well be a contender for a state berth again in D2, although it is tough to do it back to back.

Trojan Dave,

I think Chillicothe will be ready for another run at this year too. :-D

But we will have to see. I am glad we have Logan Elm at home. I am wondering if the Football Columbus East transfer we got, also plays basketball :?: :-D

I heard we have two basketball standouts who have not played for the past two years. Rumor is, they are coming back out this season. :-D

I hope we can get a Circleville from the MSL-(Buckeye Division) D2 back on the non-league schedule. That would make a great final non-league game for our CAVS. The Circleville Tigers were a good rival for Chillicothe. Close drive and great following by both schools. But looks like Circleville is full this season. :(

They have a nice large gym too. That would compliment our other non-league contest our CAVS have with the Waverly Tigers from the SOC II. The drive is less than 20 miles to Waverly's Gym. :-D

Thus, the short drive north to Circleville, would be nice too. :-D

But, whoever Coach K gets on the schedule for our CAVS last non-league contest, you can assure the team will be a good B-Ball school and the game should be a great one. :-D

I hope our CAVS and Zanesville continue the series after the Blue Devils leave the SEAOL and become an independent. That is, if Zanesville isn't afraid to keep the series going. :-D

We'll have to see if Coach Aronhalt is willing? I am not holding my breath on that one. I think Coach K would be extremely happy to continue the series between the Chillicothe Cavailers and the Zanesville Blue Devils. I will be glad when Zanesville leaves though. Not because of competition, but it will level the SEOAL out to become an 8 team league. Thus ending the silly North and South Divisions. That means one great big SEOAL again. :-D

Everybody will play everybody in each sport. Two basketball games for everyone. 14 Total league games and 6 non-league games. 7 Football League games and 3 non-league games, etc, etc.

Anyway, good luck to your Trojans this season Dave. I can't wait to see the CAVS in action on the court again this season. :-D

Non-League

1. Circleville Logan Elm-MSL (Buckeye Division) D2 @ CHS

2. Cincinnati North College Hill-Miami Valley Conference D3 @ CHS

3. Mount Zion Christian Academy Class A from Durham, North Carolina-Central Carolina League @ Wellston

4. Pickerington Central-OCC (Cardinal Division) D1

5. Waverly-SOC II D3 @ Waverly

6. Columbus East-Columbus City League D2

7. Still one more to be named :?:

SEOAL

SEOAL-South Division Games
Jackson 2-Games D2
Ironton 2-Games D3
Gallipolis (Gallia Academy) 2-Games D3
Portsmouth 2-Games D3

SEOAL-North Division Games
Marietta 1-Game D2
Vincent Warren Local 1-Game D2
Logan 1-Game D1
Zanesville 1-Game D1

SEOAL DOC Game

Does anyone know where our CAVS will be playing, Pickerington Central-OCC (Cardinal Division) D1 and Columbus East-Columbus City League D2 at :?:

Another Great Season :-D

Hitchbone64 put this list out.

These are the returning starters from last years team along with some that are talking of playing again. :-D

I don't know much about the (Columbus East Transfer) we have for Football. He could or could not play B-Ball too. We'll have to see. :-D

Then there is the possible one or two 8th graders that will be Freshmen at Chillicothe High School this year, that come from (Chillicothe Bishop Flaget) Catholic School that might make an impact. :-D

Then there is always the possibility of transfers from the 6 local Ross County SVC schools. Especially, with the open enrollement we have in Ross County. :-D

Some of these players listed with an astrix, did not play the past two years. Also, there are the ones we don't know about that could come out for the team and make an impact.

Seniors to be:
32 Seth Dawes 6'5 G
14 Caleb Knights 6'2 G
23 Jordan Benson 6'5
21 Ronnie Smith 6'5 F
12 Greg Volkinburg 6’4” F
20 James VanVoorhis 6'3 C
13 Michael Hamilton 5’11” G
33 Alex Grow 5’9” G
3 Eric Young 6’0” G
Scott North (if he comes back)*

Juniors to be:
15 Michael Turner 5’9” G
Zach Bayless 5’7” G
20 Anthony Thomas 6’3” F/C
22 Christian Staggs 6’0” G/F
42 Nathan Winston 6’2” F/C
45 Nick Jenkins 6’4” C
Shey Netter (Word is, he is coming back)* 6'3 :-D
Donte Thompson (if he comes back)*6’0

Sophmores to be:
4 Isaac Beverly 6’2” F
11 Tyler Manion 5’7” G
JV Number 12 Brandon Beverly 6’1” G/F
Freshman Number 12 Travis Hess 5’10” G
13 Tyler Manion 5’6” PG
15 Ian McCord 5’10” G
20 Nathan Rinehart 5’9” G
21 Jalen Ragland 6’0” F
22 Cameron Lowe 5’11” F
30 Luke Ramsey 6’4” F/C
32 Brook Lynch 6’2” F/C
35 Chris Claytor 5’10” F

Freshman to be:

Malik London (6'7") C.... :-D

Should be another great season this year for our CAVS in the SEOAL and in the Tournament. My pick this season is the CAVS. :-D

I think our chances of winning the SEOAL this season are excellent. :-D

I also believe that Marietta and Logan could split a game with Zanesville. :-D

Also, look for the Portsmouth Trojans to give the Zanesville Blue Devils a possible defeat from the South Division, besides our Chillicothe CAVS in the regular season. :-D

I have a feeling that the Marietta Tigers is going to pull a sleeper in the North Division this upcoming season, and could win that division this year. Giving Zanesville a proper and (final farwell) on leaving the SEOAL so soon. :-D

The Portsmouth Trojans will be our competition in the (South Division). We will have to bring our A game against the Trojans this season, that's for sure.

GO CAVS :!:

Refuse to Lose :!:

Roll Big Blue and White to Victory :!:

ZvilleBlueDevil,

I know, I wish you all were not leaving the SEOAL. I hope we get a series with you for at least the next 3-5 years. As long as both are competitive. I know we have a 2 year series in Football with the Blue Devils after you all leave the SEOAL beginning next season for 2009 and 2010.

I hope the Basketball Teams do the same. :-D

It's rekindled memories for many here in Chillicothe concerning the C.O.L. days when we played Zanesville along with Lancaster, Newark, Upper Arlington and now, fellow SEOAL member Marietta in the Central Ohio League.

If the Portsmouth Trojans are to defeat Chillicothe and Zanesville this coming season, they will have to commit themselves on the defensive end of the court.....if they do that, they have the talent to defeat both. But if they don't, it will be more of the same......CHS and ZHS beating PHS.........

I would like to keep Zanesville on the Portsmouth basketball schedule...........

I do think that the Cavaliers and Blue Devils will find the SEOAL to be a much more competitive league this year from top to bottom...............but they still are the teams to beat.............

hitchbone64 wrote:The Cavaliers just returned from their annual trek over to Indianapolis (Butler U.). I am not sure of all the details, but the Cavs held their own against some stiff competition. Many of our young guys are getting some quality time with some veterans.

It is good to see Netter and Dante Thompson back on the court. This gives us a few more in the Junior to be class. Not sure what Coach K. has in mind, but he will have plenty to choose from when filling out the roster.

If these kids buy into the defensive philosophies of Coach K. (the returners all ready have), then this team will be fun to watch over the next few years. I can see Coach having quite a bit of depth and variety of combinations to go with.

With a solid senior class lead by (Dawes, Knights, Smith and Benson), I can see a solid and deep 8-9 man rotation. I don't think we will see a Poland Seminary rotation, but some of these young kids are going to battle to get on the court.

I am anxious to get on the Hilltop this week and see the youngins. The Raglands, Lowes, Londons, Beverly's, among others will be exciting young fellows over the next few years.

GO CAVS!!! 2008 STATE CHAMPS!!! A NEW YEAR IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!!!
