Looks like a tough season for the streaks but theres no doubt in my mind that they can handle it if they play up 2 their potential.........and about the kids gettin held back. thats a parents decision and every1 needs 2 get off piketons back because there are numerous schools that do the same but i dont see u ppl complaining about them so quit whining about it cuz really theres nothing u can do. there not your kids so u dont know whats best for them.

jimmy,

Peter Kronenberg about 6'0 in the 11th grade. I've only seen him play once and he did shoot the ball well that day. I will have to wait and see how he does once we get started.

lightle04, I agree, Jim Stanley is an outstanding Asst. Coach, he has coached with me for several years from Columbus State University to Piketon. Yes Unity is something we stress, and I believe our kids are ready to take the next step, however the road will be tough! We will be the "hunted" all season, and if we don't come to play every night and work hard in every aspect of the game we will not meet our goals and other predictions or expectations. In all of my years of coaching I've seen very talented teams fall apart, because they were not willing to pay the price. What we accomplished this past summer must carry on into the season. A lot of sacrifices were made to help our team concept....I was very pleased with our efforts and how some of the younger kids stepped in and played major minutes against some very tough competition. Like I always say "Talk is cheap....games are won on the floor"

The days of that kind of nonsense should be long behind us. How many pro athletes have walked the halls of PHS?

I have heard that the majority of those boys are very good students, so I doubt there is any legitimate reason for them to repeat the 8th grade.

The Doctor shouldn't allow this to happen.

I THINK THESE PARENTS PAY THEIR TAXES TOO.....LIKE JIMMY SAID IT HAPPENS ALL OVER THE STATE....WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN...THEY COULD BE DOING IT FOR SPECIAL REASONS... ACADEMIC/ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS..MATURITY...CONFIDENCE..NOT BEING 17 YRS OLD WHEN THEY GRAD...IT WAS KIDS CHOICE TOO...
SO GET OVER IT....LIGHTLE WHY WOULD YOU START A THREAD IN TO THIS SUBJECT...STIRRING THE POT..I GUESS

sorry, didn't think it was that big of deal lots of people do it all over the state.probably would with mine if the present wife and ex-wife were not so stead fast against it just for the fisical aspect of it a year more of growth and strength can only benifit a kid.not hurt them it dosent make themany worse of a student etherjust more mature

Should be a fun season of both boys and girls bball at Piketon. Coach Coreno takes over the helm of the Lady Streaks and they should be improved. The boys, well only time and hard work will tell where they go.

They have a good schedule that should challenge them. Someone once told me that basketball is a game of runs. How a team handles themselves when the run is bad is usually the team that achieves its goals! Good luck Streaks.

I bet the parents of the actual "8th graders" who will be sitting on the bench this season would tend to disagree.

hbk, you have posted 6 times on this thread with nothing but putting down our administration, players, and parents of the program at the jr hi level. This thread is about the varsity Redstreaks bball program, let it go!

EaglesAD,

I think you better recheck your facts, my last post about it was on 9/12. I had let it go until I was slammed a couple of days ago. Just responding. I made my point weeks ago.

I think you need to put yourself in the position of the parents of the actual 8th graders. If I was one of them I would have a hard time with the AD telling me to "just let it go".

I am sure if it was your child your opinion would be a little different.

You won't ever find a post from me that puts down a player or student.

I will not get into a discussion of right or wrong on the internet, but I ask again to let it go. Lets talk varsity basketball!

I reiterate that I did on 9/12. I think you should direct some of the "let it go" advice to some of the other posters.

I have been telling everyone since this subject started to say there piece and let it go. Nothing but hard feelings will come out of it and the more it is dragged out the worse it will get. ;-) The last I will say on it, have a good day.

Holy Cow!! Did I just read that right?? Mr. Coreno is coaching the Varsity Girls at Piketon. Shocker!!!!!! Must be a completely new BOE at Piketon. The guy goes 19-2 as the boys coach a few years back and get's fired. League champion, SVC COY, District COY and got FIRED!!! Yet I am suprised he is back for more. I know he teaches there, but this blows me away. I'm happy for him and he will do a great job, but who's eating the crow?

The voters finally wised up and elected a good board. Nice to see Coreno get another chance at Piketon, he was railroaded the first time by board members with an agenda.

Piketon has a strong AD and Superintendent now. Hopefully things will continue looking up.

How long before we see something improve with the volleyball program?

Good luck Jeff, his staff and players.......make a strong run for that SVC title!!

BengalFan76,

You are right, that was a bit much. How about Piketon has a large AD!

Just teasing Buck.
