lightle04, I agree, Jim Stanley is an outstanding Asst. Coach, he has coached with me for several years from Columbus State University to Piketon.
coach Stan's a Beast and he can bust a move too!

Early season injuries could cause the Streaks a slow start, and a possible struggle for the league title.

Lost Jordan Miller (ACL), Cody Smith (ankle), Keenan Brush (ankle), Jamie Helton (knee). Miller out for season, Smith, Brush, Helton out 2 to 3 weeks.
Re: Piketon 08-09
Very interesting thread here even with the injuries the Streaks have, they will be just fine. This is a very deep team and very interchangeable. There are several kids that will step up and help the Streaks until everyone is healthy so don’t write them off just yet. The coaching staff got a good look at some of these players over the summer against some very good teams and found out a few surprised so not only are they talented they are deep as well. The only key I see will be is they are young and inexperienced on the varsity level but all of them have a lot of experience on the lower levels so we will see how it all plays out. I think people will be very surprise and the depth this team really has.

Every piketon team the past 5yrs in football and b-ball has been one of the most respected teams in the s.v.c let's make these's ppl shut up from evey where and show them we not just a paper team get out there and win 20+ we cant accept anything less boys go streaks
Re: Piketon 08-09
If the boys accept their roles and play in-your-face defense, they should do well. Senior leadership will be a key as well. Could be a very good year for the Streaks in the league; the non-league schedule looks like a tough one. Go Streaks!

Watched Piketon play several summer games in the Jackson-Wellston Leagues during the summer. The Streaks had little trouble of disposing most of the teams, Believe they won somthing like 11 games and lost only one.

Re: Piketon 08-09
Scrimmage last night vs. Western Brown and Minford was pretty ugly. Coach Lisath benched the starters after the first three minutes (because of lack of hustle) and the younger kids played well. The Redstreaks looked sluggish all night and never got into any kind of flow. Piketon edged Minford 2-1 and twice with a three point lead in the closing seconds Western Brown hits a 3pt shot at the buzzer to tie. Piketon goes 0-1-2 vs. Western Brown (coach by former Redstreak Doug Williams). Piketon once again playing without Cody Smith and I'm not sure if Kennan Brush was sick or not, but he was a non factor all night. Streaks missed several free throws that was two points for one shot, that cost them all night. The defense looked pretty good most of the night. It also appeared Coach Lisath was very agitated after the first quarter, I really didn't see him doing any coaching after he tore into the starters.

Talent will only carry you so far in sports. Determination, hustle, the willingness to put the team ahead of yourself, comraderie, an at all cost attitude and a little bit of luck go into great seasons.
Settling, selfish, a me first attitude, hustling when convenient go into well below expectations of a season.
There is a bar that we set ourselves as individuals, and there are bars set for teams goals. Until the final buzzer sounds, all individual needs take a back seat bigtime. Luckily, the season hasnt started yet.
Jimmy, I agree that this team didnt show the fire we have witnessed. Seniors, this is your last go around, play like it!

Re: Piketon 08-09
Actually I think we are right where I thought we would be in this Pre-Season. We still have a lot of work to do and we are slowly but surely building up some steam. The problem sometimes is expectations and predictions can be a distraction, I personally feel we are finding out expectations and predictions don't mean a "hill of beans". If you don't bring it every night you will get your butts kicked.
Cody Smith returned last night, he is just lacking conditioning right now, but he will be fine. Kennan Brush was not sick, he is just young and doesn't quite understand what it takes to use his ability to rise above the rest.....but he will.
As for me, it's a scrimmage....most coaches don't sit on the bench or stand next to the team during a scrimmage....and yes I'm still agitated.
Given our early injuries, we are right where we should be, the kids know the stakes are high, but our approach is one game at a time and trying to improve each night out....we will be ready come December 6th.

does anyone no how close jordan brabson and cody smith are to 1000 points or are they close at all?
Re: Piketon 08-09
Wishing the best of luck to the Red Streaks. Have been hearing about injuries, illness, and such, but haven't seen much posted about them. Hopefully they are in the past.
I look forward to what the season has in store. All of the pieces necessary for a successful season are there, now it's time to put them in place. Go Streaks!

Re: Piketon 08-09
To my understanding Piketon will be without two starters tomorrow. That will be a tough task for the streaks to overcome.
