Re: WEST BASKETBALL
Good luck to West and the new coach. Seems like they have some talent out there but can never put it all together for some reason (maybe it's just a football school and basketball will always be an afterthought...who knows). But I remember Scott Jenkins' teams with Asa Jewett and Co. and they were pretty tough so it is possible to win there.
Also glad to hear Todd Perdas' name starting to pop up for some of these coaching openings. I went to high school and played with Todd and he definitely knows the game. Coaching under Robin Hagen-Smith will only give him that much more experience. Look for him to land a head coaching gig at the varsity level in the next few years.*

So do we have a coach yet or not? Who is the guy from Greenup County. Any background on him?

What was wrong with Ward? I heard he did a good job at Clay and has done a good job at Coal Grove. The new coach who is from Greenup County will do a good job. Good luck to him and West.

Ward will leave the program in a mess as he always does. Take from this eagle fan, the Hornets last year played with very little class against Eastern-pike!
As for the West side, wish them the best of luck.
Who did they hire?

Re: WEST BASKETBALL
Got the scoop this morning....Coach Jason Smith is the new boys basketball coach at West. He coached at New Boston a couple of years as an assistant, has been at Greenup County for several years and has served as their Interim Head Coach on two separate occasions, the last 2 years. He played for Randy Ward in the early 90's on a District and Regional Championship team...that's the scoop I got, anyone know any additional info?
Re: WEST BASKETBALL
If he's served as interim head coach twice is there a specific reason he was never named head coach? Just a coincidence or did someone not feel he was qualified? If thats the case is he qualified for this job?

Re: WEST BASKETBALL
Talked to a guy whom I respect at Greenup about him. He said he is a young and he was as a very good player in High School. My friend used to play golf with him and he said that he's a good guy. He took over as head coach when the stuff came out at Greenup a couple years ago.
As for his coaching ability, we'll have to see. What I want to see more than anything is dedication and hard work. That's where it starts.
