Starting awful early with the smack talk since we have a whole season to go through before we even start thinking about Russell.

By the way with Lutz at the helm Ironton is 12-1 against Russell. :122245

Ivan is not afraid to play anyone. i think Ivan wants a couple of cracks at the tigers before he retires.

and no im not in high school and i am not immature. well maybe a little and no it takes more than that to hurt my feelings.the smack talkin is only beginning but all in good fun.

hammerdown, my apologize....I was not calling you a name....I thought the name was (hammerhead)....And, as you can see I even corrected it on the very next post....

But, Ivan had plenty of chances to play Ironton....And, always declined....He wanted nothing to do with the Tigers....Now, that this is his last year....You schedule us for the next 2 years....

Russell cannot even beat Ashland consistently, so don't start this crap again! Reference this post for your proof of Russell's dominance of really stout teams...
gotigers wrote:I realize this was a topic on GC vs. Portsmouth battle for the rock which was pretty funny, but it has somehow turned into OH vs. KY football debate and a "how great Russell football is" topic. Let me take a controversial stance on this that many of you will not like, but is true... Russell would not beat Ironton 1 single time in the past 10 years!!! History has shown that Russell never has and never does want any part of Ironton in football, as evidenced by their stellar 3-20 record vs. Ironton.

I have collected some evidence because I am a numbers sort of guy. Take a look at the common opponents of Russell (RHS) and Ironton (IHS) in the past 10 year and the scores:

1998: RHS 28 Ashland (AHS) 24, IHS 39 AHS 6
1999: RHS 14 AHS 21, IHS 64 AHS 6
2000: RHS 28 AHS 12, IHS 42 AHS 6
2001: RHS 28 AHS 27, IHS 45 AHS 7
RHS 0 Wheelersburg 28, IHS 42 Wheelersburg 0
2002: RHS 19 AHS 28, IHS 53 AHS 18
2003: RHS 14 AHS 33, IHS 35 AHS 0
RHS 31 Boyd Co. 19, IHS 42 Boyd Co. 7
2004: RHS 28 AHS 14, IHS 34 AHS 7
RHS 23 Boyd Co. 8, IHS 56 Boyd Co. 7
RHS 17 Belfry 39, IHS 31 Belfry 10
2005: RHS 21 AHS 13, IHS 27 AHS 26
RHS 20 Belfry 14, IHS 33 Belfry 21
2006: RHS 21 AHS 24, IHS did not play AHS but do you think we would have lost?
2007: RHS 28 AHS 20, IHS 27 AHS 7

Can you really now say that Russell would be anything but 0-10 over the last 10 years vs. Ironton? Also, as far as a Portsmouth vs. Russell series goes, I think Portsmouth would win in 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 06, & 07. So that is 9/10 for Portsmouth vs. Russell in the past 10 years.

Give the "Russell is the greatest" a rest, because they are not! You will see in 2009.

GO TIGERS!!!

This post is 2008 Ironton Fighting Tigers, so can we stick to the topic please?!?

GO TIGERS!!!

With Coy Bacon available, and Danny Pride back home, I wonder if Coach Lutz would put them on staff to help run the Defense?

The last time Russell beat Ironton was @ Russell in 1977....

Russell 24
Ironton 14

Series is In Ironton's favor 20-3-1....Starting back in 1925....

The Tigers have had 20-21 players lifting everyday of weight lifting this summer.
Should make for some pretty stout kids come this season, particularly on the line.
Several of them are benching over 300, and squating upwards to 500. Could really push some people around, as well as have a strong, active defensive front.

hammerdown your starting to sound like some friends of mine did back in 01 when West played at Ironton the first week of the playoffs. They told me that they watched Ironton on tape and they didn't look that good. I thought man you never played against them that's for sure. That boring looking offense just makes you think that their not that good.

yeah Russell had some good team lately (ie a state title) but during that same time Ironton was playing in overtime in a Regional final against Bellaire whom would have creamed anyone around here just as an example.

Saw both play alot during the last few years. Ironton would and will hammer Russell.
