I'm not sure how many seniors, I know their catcher, left and center are all freshman, their best pitcher is a junior, but I don't think too many. I would seriously doubt that it was Mary, I would say it was her husband.

It was her husband, but she did get very uumm shall we say intense after the girls had shook hands. Had a few choice words/or rather name to call Ridenour. I just felt really bad for the girls. It wasn't how anyone would want to see the coach or coaches of a child acting. I agree I hope everyone can find a happy medium it would be a shame to loose girls that love the game. I've heard the buzz and it may be too late already.

I've heard the buzz also. I hope something can be fixed by next year. I know this team could compete for the OVC next year. I think our little league is getting better and stronger and hopefully produce even better talent for our high school team. I just don't want to see them get to high school and have a coach that no one will play for and see them all go ASA. I know alot of these girls gave up ASA to play for their high school, but I just don't think they want to play next year if the same conditions exist.

I hope things change for you all too. I witnessed the Rock Hill coach making a spectacle of himself and all I can say is that it was truly sad. I hate to see a coach make it more about him (and her) than about the players and their love of the game. You all have alot of talent out there and I believe that the coaches are a real detriment to your program.
I also wanted to say that girls can play ASA and high school. ASA teams with high school girls just don't play any tournaments or practice as a team until high school season is over. :12223

Yes, I know that. I know that alot of these girls really wanted to represent their school and it was a big priority to them. I think that says alot about them, that it's not just about themselves but their school. I really feel that love has been taken from them. I know Rock Hill was really great last year and didn't lose until tournament, but even the best has to regroup. Winning with freshman is really hard, but these girls have played really hard and have been in most games. That should say alot about them.

River Valley's actually a PRETTY SOLID team. They did only lose to South Point by one run.

yea, River Valley has become more competitive this year, McFann is doing well on the mound....but SP beat them twice....8 to 1 at RV and then again 1 to 0 at SP......SP only giving up 1 run to them in 2 games

Softball's just a crazy game like that. Still South Point lost to Rock Hill once and I do believe, the panthers beat them by 10. Stuff happens.

What are the current standings in the OVC? OVC games only.

This mornings paper has

Chesapeake 7-2
Rock Hill 5-4
River Valley 5-5

Fairland, South Point and Coal Grove are not listed.

Good year for OVC softball. Good job to all the teams.

Chesapeake is 7-2 (with both losses to River Valley, still has to play SP)

South Point is 7-2 (with a loss to Rock Hill and Chesy, still has to play Chesy)

Rock Hill is 5-4 (with 2 losses to Ches, one to SP, and one to Fairland...still has to play Coal Grove I think)

River Valley is 5-5 (with 2 losses to SP, 1 to Fairland, and two to Rock Hill I think)

Fairland is 4-6 (with 2 losses to Chesy, 2 to SP, 1 to Rock Hill, 1 to River Valley)

Coal Grove is 0-9 (no wins, but still has to play Rock Hill one more time that I know of)

I think thats is all correct...but please post anything that is wrong.

Looks good to me on the records. Think ur right on buckeye.... be a good game at SP...... SP's bats have got to hit chapman.... defense won't be the deciding factor here..... hits, hits , hits

Is this the same Ridenour that is a bus driver for Chesapeake. I also hear that the other ref had a grandaughter playing for Chesapeake? Not that this should be areason to act like a child but, you would think this would be not be a good situation for the refs or Chesapeake..

Yes, one of the umpires does have a grand daughter playing for Chesapeake but believe me that is not an issue at all. He always makes accurate calls and I think he does a good job. The umps have to make calls so fast they do not have time to think who the play involves or which team is hitting and which team is fielding. He does a good job and I have never thought him having a grand daughter on the team was an issue...at least from what I have seen. (and this is coming from someone who isn't from Chesapeake) But everyone has their own opinions and experiences.

I have seen both of these umpires call games for a long time and have never seen them make "biased" calls. I figure most schools have umpires that are tied into their school somehow and calling their games. It happens everywhere.

I have also watched these two men umpire many games and have never felt that they would intentionally make a call for a Chesapeake team or any other team. They both umpire games for the love of the game and it's truly sad that this happened. The main thing that is so crazy about this whole thing was there were no questionable or disputed calls made during that game. The Rock Hill coaches were asked after the game what questionable call was made and they said there wasn't one. We need to remember that this is for the children, not the adults and let them play ball and have fun!
