You are absolutely right and everybody knows it. No other coaches at Peebles are having to go through this process and Coach McFarland has been led to believe prior to the last couple weeks or so that he would be back as coach. It's a witch-hunt involving a small (but evidently mighty) group of about 4 sets of parents who will never be happy as long as they are not in control and as long as their kid isn't getting as many awards as another. The administration being referred to is that at Peebles, the principal and athletic directors. No sense hiding it, it is what it is, and it needs to be exposed for what it is. Normally the local school administration is who handles the rehiring of coaches every year but I'm starting to think this group isn't capable and someone at the next level up needs to step up and do something. These guys better watch out, this little group will be after their jobs next.

Good points. But this is turning into craziness. From what I have heard, interviews are already being conducted at one of these parents home. And that they will be swaying the panel towards who they want. Again, sounds like an administration who is very weak and willing to bend any rules to please certain people. And, you were right they will be seeking to have the administation/ad's removed next.

You've got to be kidding. Who authorizes something like that?

That's a good question.

Any word on who is making up this 5 person panel? It seems no matter who was chosen at least some are bound to be biased and partial...what a mess.

It's a clear case of the inmates running the asylum. Principals and athletic directors are there for a reason and if they are going to give up their responsibility of hiring or firing coaches then there is no need for them to have the job in the first place. You don't form parent panels to screen applicants for teaching positions or administration positions other than elected school board members. Why is this any different.
The Peebles High School principal and AD have opened Pandoras box with this move and set a precedent of allowing parents to pick their coach. Assinine is about as polite a term as I can think of for this.

The next coach that is hired, will have to be a puppet, that can be controlled by this little group. Who else would be dumb enough to walk into this situation?? Do you suppose the administration knows how people are talking about them? do you suppose they care that this group is walking around, letting everyone know they're in charge? Maybe they don't care, who knows.

does the peebles administration have the abilily to hire coaches, or do they just make recommendations to the ohio valley school board/superintendent?

While the board is actually where the official hiring is done, it's pretty much left up to the individual schools.

This whole situation is ridiculous. These parents just need to let the coaching staff do their job and stop worring about how many awards their kids get. If all these parents are worried about is how many awards their kids can get, what kind of example are they setting for their kids. The last time I checked basketball was a team sport and if Peebles is going to do well under ANY COACH next year that is exactly what the players are going to have to play like, A TEAM. If these parents continue to try to spell team with an I, Peebles is going to be lucky to win half of their games next season, even with all of their talent.

LET THE KIDS PLAY, LET THE COACHES COACH, AND LET THE PARENTS CHEER THEM BOTH ON

If they are doing this to look good they are failing miserably.

If the interviews are being conducted the way we all think, who would actually want to interview for the job? Sure there is loads of talent coming up, but they see what they are doing to this coach, what will stop them from doing it to you? It would be hard enough coaching the team but to also have to please the parents and be a puppet. Next thing you know, parents will be going into the locker room at half time and coming up with the second half game plan. Complete circus!

Anyone heard anything. Board meeting is supposed to be Monday, wouldn't you think they'd want to hire by then? I've heard it's narrowed down to 2 or 3?
