An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Jackson Ironmen
Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Jackson Ironmen
Army,
You seemed to think that Jackson would be too much for Wellston on the Jackson-Wellston thread. Did you change your mind already? I think you predicted 1-9 or 2-8 last year for the Ironmen and they ended up 6-4, even after all the turnover trouble. The Ironmen do get Logan and Zanesville this year, which will increase the difficulty of the league schedule, but 1-9 is unlikely. Jackson lost some valuable players last year, but the Ironmen are returning 16 starters. With the experience of last year under their belt, I see Jackson putting together another respectable season. I'm not going to call them a title contender right now, but they have enough talent to make some noise if things come together.
I'm guessing that this 1-9 prediction is just a jab at SouthernStorm. Would that be accurate?

Funny how when Paladin makes the same type post on a Chillicothe thread, army is up in arms about how he should stay off their posts, etc.
Wellston couldn't beat "average" Jackson teams while they had Brad Young and Lance Phillips, I doubt a Wellston team coming off a 1-9 season is going to beat at least an average, if not good, Jackson team in 2008.
Only a homer would think otherwise.
My Guess:
AT Wellston: Win
AT Waverly: Loss
VS Vinton County: Win
VS Portsmouth: Win
AT GAHS: Streak is over. Win.
AT Marietta: Will be tough. But Jackson Wins.
AT Ironton: Loss
VS Chillicothe: Toss-up. I'd have to pick Chilli right now, but depending on how QB shapes up for JHS, we'll see.
VS Logan: Will give Logan won of their toughest games, but Logans depth gives JHS a Loss.
VS Zanesville: WIN
I see at least 6-4. All games are winnable, I see at Ironton and Logan as the two TOUGHEST games, but Waverly and Chillicothe will also be big challenges.
Jackson will need to stay healthy and keep the off the field problems away.

Locos,
Good post. I also see Portsmouth as a very tough game for Jackson, but I mostly agree with your breakdown. The replacement of Warren and Athens with Logan and Zanesville definitely beefs up the league schedule for the Ironmen, but I really feel that they'll step up to that challenge. The Ironmen will be an experienced team this season and if they avoid the turnovers, as well as the off the field problems that you mentioned, they should be just fine.

Looks to me like LoganLocos included him as a starter on both sides of the ball. Kitchen was solid last year at DT and I expect him to have a good senior season.

I only have four disagreements, which are with Jeremy Kitchen, Steven Rainey, and Robbie Cantor. These three players are not currently playing.
The fourth is with John Adams who is practicing to be a linebacker as of now. John Adams has been practicing there for a while.

Hmmmm

Ought Oh......Where are they at

Aren't the three you mentioned starters from last years team

Army,
Cantor moved away and the other two decided not to play. Rainey did not start last year. Jackson will be fine, so don't get your hopes up.

Jackson people blow so much smoke!!!
They will be 1-2 going into the Portsmouth game,Portsmouth in this one. There next win maybe at MARIETTA/ But they have had trouble in the past,Maybe Chilly!!! THATS IT.

Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Jackson Ironmen
Young talent doesn't always make winners when varsity comes around.
Look at the Marietta's team. This years seniors only lost one game has freshman.

So you think they MIGHT beat Chillicothe but not Wellston or Vinton County?
Sorry. No way. If Jackson loses to Vinton or Wellston, they won't beat anyone in the SEOAL (since they don't play Warren.)
But my guess is they'll get past Wellston and Vinton COunty without much of a problem.

bballinfool,
I think you must have gotten lost. Let me help you. You might want to look here at the GAHS topic...

I don't know. Maybe you're still a Rebel fan, so look here.

Or maybe you decided that this year your team will just be River Valley.

I really can't keep track so I just covered all the bases.

All 6'2 230 came home to GA!!!! Don't believe every thing you read!!! Sleeper impact!! Plus I know the SEOAL JUST HAS GOOD HAS MOST.
Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Jackson Ironmen
I don't dare even try to guess what games they will win or lose, but from their practices and scrimage, they look pretty good to me. I think they will have a pretty good season.
