Does this mean kids from Nelsonville-York are unwelcome? Should NY players go to Post 78 in Logan?

I'm not sure where NY players are supposed to go. However, if they are meant to go to Athens and GW left them out, then I'm sure it's simply because he hasn't seen an NY player play legion in Athens for years. I think 2001 may have been the last time.

If NY players are supposed to go to Athens, then I'm sure they are welcome. GW will likely have a better answer than mine.

It is my understanding that players have to play for the legion post closest to their home unless they are cut from the team or receive a release from their legion coach. Nelsonville York kids have gone to Logan for the last several years. If this is not the case, I'm sure NY players would be very welcome at P21 tryouts.

RTN-
We lost some quality players from last year's team but have several returners. I would rather not comment until tryouts are complete.

Todd Nuzum and Gary Dicken will add a great deal of baseball experience to the P21 coaching staff and will further develope the junior program. Both Todd and Gary are former P21 Senior team coaches and well known in the Athens County Area.

There will be an "Open Field" night for any potential P21 Junior or Senior Team players. There will be no instruction or evaluation, just the opportunity to throw, hit and play a pick up game. Wednesday 5/21/08, 6:00 pm @ Federal Hocking.

Tryouts will still be 5/27 & 5/28 @ Rannow Field
.

There will be another open field night on Thursday 5/22/08, 6:00 pm @ Federal Hocking. Wednesday's turnout was good with players from Athens, Alexander and Federal Hocking enjoying a relaxed pick up game. Everyone is encouraged to accept this opportunity to throw and hit in preparation for next week's tryouts.

Tuesday's weather forecast does not look great. 60% chance of rain. Updates will be posted on http://www.p21baseball.net

If Tuesday is a rain out, we will go Wednesday and Thursday at the same time (5:00 pm).

I didn't see any games on the schedule with Parkersburg this year. Did they not want to play this year? Also
does anyone know what teams will be playing in the July 4th tournament?

Parkersburg and Athens were unable to find an open date that worked for both teams this year. Hopefully next year these teams can get together.

The field and schedule for the 2008 4th of July Tourney will probably be announced next week. It will appear on http://www.p21baseball.net and probably this site.

Just off the top of my head, I can name most of the teams. Please don't cast these in stone but... Athens P21, Zanesville, Troy, Troy Bombers, Avon Lake, Mentor, Shinnston WV, possibly a team from Utah... that's 8 of the 10 teams...

I discovered today that the list I posted yesterday is not accurate. There have been some changes made and it will be posted soon.
