I know Tiger. These kids do a great job on Saturday at the soccer field with the little ones.

I think I also left a St Joe player out when I mentioned the defense. Joey Basedow also plays on the defense for the Flyers and I think I left him out. Sorry Joey!

Thanks RRR TJ is very much in the learning mode with soccer and very anxious for basketball and baseball. He seems to be enjoying himself . No team picture as of yet, gotta get Dan back with them for a picture.

Valley is the best SOC team that the Flyers have faced so far. They are sitting solidly in the overall 5th slot based on performance in the league and a lock at second in rankings in SOC I. They are coming off a sound 4-1 win over New Boston last week and 1-0 loss to South Point. They did pick up some speed with a 6-1 win over a hapless Piketon team on Monday. Valley's biggest weakness is that they have trouble scoring. Even when they gets lots of shots, only a small percentage seem to go in. They have an average defense anchored by a decent keeper in Chaffin. They have some senior leadership which has helped. They have more bench than either Clay or New Boston and that keeps them in games longer. This is the second of four games this week for the Indians.

If I had to make a prediction, I think that St. Joseph's better offensive capabilities will be the difference in this game.

Another game of interest is the West and Eastern match-up tonight at West. Eastern will be going for their second win this season and their third in their program's history. West will be trying for their first win since 2006 and their second win since the 2005 season. Here I suspect that Kevin Litchenfeld of West will be the difference maker but that Eastern will make a game of it.

Good luck to all teams tonight on injury-free contests! If I don't have to do any late emergency surgeries the evening, I might make to the ends of both games.

Update on Coach Blair
He has had his surgery to repair his femur. He has been transferred to rehab facility for 7 days.
To SJ players: Remember that I don't want to be the one to tell him about a loss so lets stay focused and motivated.
Go Flyers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Valley is 6-5 on the season so far. They are currently 5th in the overall league standings.

They have wins over: New Boston (2 times), Clay (2 times), West and Piketon
Losses to: Minford, Burg, South Webster, Unioto and South Point

Hopefully the Indians come out fired up to pull off the upset tonight!

Just heard that St. Joe and valley played to a 0-0 tie. Heard Joe Unger played large in the goal. Never satisfied with a tie but good job Flyers. Still undefeated.

I was only there for the second half but it was very evenly played with both teams having their chances to score. Play went first to one end and then to the other. St. Joseph had the ball a little more on their offensive end but Valley had the better scoring opportunities.

Valley tended to pack a bit on defense but then their defense does not have a lot of speed. The defenders try to make it up with the level of effort. Valley really needs to have one more forward with a real nose for the goal.

St. Joseph played better than any of the previously three times I have seen them play. They hustled nicely and had several good crosses that just never finished.

A VERY clean game. Cannot say enough about the high level of sportsmanship displayed by Valley during and after the game.

For a tie ending in a no score was one of the most exciting games I have watched!
Very agressive play with excellent officiating! I was especially impressed with the girl who started Varsity #32. She was very agressive and did not back down from the boys ...one of the best girls I have seen play.

You should have a shot at ending the week 2-1-1. Good luck with North Adams. It will be a very different game than the 8-0 loss to Waverly.
