I need your opinions

I have a son who is a sr. at OU in Athens. He is a double major-physics and computer science. He's a great student, works part-time, lives on his own and pays his own way. Last week he had a paper due, wrote it, turned it in on time.....received the paper back from the professor. On the front of the paper it read: "Were you high when you wrote this paper?" Ok, now I know that sounds hilarious and I have to admit it was pretty funny. That being said, five minutes after I read that comment I wanted to knock this guy into the next month! Should I report this man to officials at OU or just let my son take care of it? There were others in the class who received some of the same comments. On a side note, this is the fourth and final class in a series of 4 Quantum Physics classes. He has received no lower than a "B" in the previous 3. No.... he's not a geek.... he's your average college guy who goes out on weekends....he just happens to be pretty sharp

Anyway, what would YOU do since I am paying for this?!?!?!

I'd report the prof to the dean of his college if I was a parent paying for that type of criticism. In no way is that "constructive criticism". Also/or, make sure your son is there for evaluations at the end of the quarter.

Was your son upset about it or just you?
Since the boy is a senior and seemingly has done very well so far on his own, I think I would trust his own good judgment in handling it.

for over $3000.00 a quarter I'd be a little upset if my son or daughter got a comment like that... especially if more than one in the class got those kind of comments

Falcon: He lives in his own apartment and pays his own bills(ex. elec, gas, phone, groceries) EXCEPT for his schooling....that is done with Parent Plus and student loans. I should have made that alittle clearer.

Well I would take that professor to the dean. He has no business making comments like that.

What is your son's feeling about it? If he is upset then he is old enought to take care of it. If he is willing to take the grade, and go on then let him. My son just finished college, and he pretty much supported himself too. I would have let him take care of it, unless he asked me to get involved.

I agree with most of the posts...your son is a man. He needs to deal with this... when in the business world and your son gets goofy criticisms, you can not come to his aid. You did a good job raising him. Trust his judgement on this one. Support him and love him, but let him be a man......

I appreciate the words of wisdom. My son has no idea I feel so strongly about this situation....I think my expression told him what I thought!

I spoke to him today...asked about the class....he told me not to worry...."I'll take care of it, Mom."
