New Logan High School Football Field and Bill Sauer Field
Re: New Logan High School Football Field and Bill Sauer Field
Stadium is looking great. I think the visitors are going to get ate up by skeeters over on the river bank, better bring some off. The press box looks sweet from the road. Hope parking is completed on time, can not wait.

I'll be doing more photos this weekend.
Can't wait to see the project, I know it will be a totally different site than a few weeks ago.

Awesome pictures Locos!!
This thing is really coming together. I drove by there and the new Green school to see the progress for myself. It's starting to look like the opening scene of Varsity Blues. BTW, I loved your pictures of the river from the visitors bleachers. I wonder how long before someone tries to fish off the back of them?
Thanks again for posting these.

Any word on Portsmouth's new stadiums? I would have figured we would see something by now. They better be top notch with a 10 million dollar donation given to them.
Re: New Logan High School Football Field and Bill Sauer Field

You can keep up on the renovation of Zanesville's John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium at http://www.sulsbergerstadium.com.
We expect Phase 1 (field, track, scoreboard, sound system, lights) to be completed by the end of July.

Got a chance to flip through all the photos this morning. Impressive! I like the entryway. Nicely done. And the iron work on the bleachers is a nice touch, too.
One thing we did a bit differently was to put the soccer lines in BLACK. It really works. Stole the idea from Grove City Christian.
Looking forward to visiting the new facility this fall. I think that even though there is this love affair with Sauer, I also think this new stadium will be a point of community pride.

Thanks, I was a little worried at times about how much I was going to like the final product, but I have to say that Sup. Stirn and Ron Janey have done a great job in turning a beautiful facility into a reality.
I'm anxious to see the final, final results. You'll find the press box to be a major, MAJOR, improvement over what we used to have, not that that was hard to do. The old one was probably a little too small for 1968 and wasn't changed much after it was installed.
I look forward to seeing the final upgrades to Sulsberger. I've always enjoyed visiting during football season, I think the stadium is in a grade location with the natural bowl surrounding it. It sounds like we'll be there for a non-league game in 2009 from what I've been hearing.

I'm pretty sure y'all are still on the schedule after our departure. It's been a good series.
It's going to be an interesting commencement ceremony on Saturday (Lord willing and the creek don't rise, otherwise we're in the large Easy-Bake Oven known as Winland Gymnasium!). The entire field has been "removed" and is now just tightly compacted earth. Weird backdrop. And since the ceremony starts at 7:30, it had better not go too late since there are no field lights down there at the moment!
We were talking about this a week or so ago, and we only play two regular-season games next season on real grass -- at Newark and at Gallia Academy. Strange!
But I like what I see at the new stadium down there. It certainly doesn't look "cookie cutter" to me. Just like you guys, we didn't use a logo at midfield. But at least our "Z" won't look upside down from the visitors' side!

Great photos, Locos.
It looks like GAHS will be playing football at Memorial Field for a few more years.
The GAHS Alumni Association was gonna try to help raise $5 million for the project, but rescended that last week according to an article in the Gallipolis paper. The alumni also rescended the name of Alumni Stadium. Someone said somebody wanted to give the new stadium a different name.Unreal.
Looks like they'll have a new track in Centenary, and hopefully they'll have the new tennis courts, softball and baseball fields finished by next spring.
We need a couple millionaires to leave us a bundle to go along with Foodland's (Bob Eastman) $1 million.
We've already got a first class soccer field in Centenary.
Work on the new high school is progressing.

We're in the same boat. We only play 2 games on grass as well (@ Pickerington North and Chillicothe). We go to Marietta, Hamilton Township, and Jackson.
My biggest fear was that we would have a "cookie cutter" stadium. I think I can put those fears to rest.
Our commencement is stuck INSIDE the Katie Smith Gymnasium, AND we will have to deal with limited parking due to the construction of Green Elementary on the site AND the addition to the middle school. Should be interesting!
Jottings -
I think you'll like the new press box. It's going to be "climate controlled" and the view should be MUCH better to help you get the stats just right.
Memorial Field is a fine place when the creek doesn't flood, but I'm sure the new facility will be great as well.

Yes, The stadium/field/track is to be finished by July 1st. At this point I don't see any way that we won't be welcoming the Gales to the House Of Purple Pain for the first game.
