Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
How in the world is New Boston getting votes? Wow!! Either a coach is playing a trick or they think they are undefeated!!!

Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
That absolutely makes a mockery of the poll. We all know polls do not mean anything and this should show the kids and fans that do read them how much they really mean.
Either as a joke, or accidentally, this should not happen. It is bad enough the kids in New Boston do not have baseball this year, but then to see them listed as being ranked is like rubbing salt in a wound. A poll that had no credibility just lost even more.

Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
I'm sure it's a mistake. Who cares though?
Someone probably sent in information about their season, D4 coaches saw it and voted for them. If some SE Ohio coaches would send out information, some teams would be voted higher.
It's a coaches poll, based on information that each voter receives, it has credibility(unless you are bitter)

Congratulations, Coach Hoops and team! The hard work finally paid off.

Just goes to show how political the voting is at the tournament draw. Ranked #12 in the state and they get a 10 seed at the draw
Here is a good example of the pollsters fine work from basketball,No offence to Unioto

I totally agree with you. How Wheelersburg is not higher than what they are is flat-out unbelievable. If I know Coach Estep though, he doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to that and it can also work to their advantage and let them play with a little chip on their shoulders.
Good luck to the Wheelersburg Pirates the rest of the way.

Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
I had a coach tell me that Wheelersburg puts out no information across the state to the voters for their team.

Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
to me coach Estep is a genius for not giving out info. just means he gets to make a sneak attack on teams deep in the tourney that have no knowledge of who they beat to get their wins
Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
Being ranked #1 in week 3 of the coaches poll gets you just that.
Winning a state championship at the end of the season also gets you just that.
What do you think we should be focused on? Its not like the BCS system, we don't need it.

Exactly. You can be proud of being the #1 poll team at any point in the season, but the real prize comes at the end of the season. IMO, we'll see Adena, ZT, and Wheelersburg in late May in Chillicothe and it will be settled on the field. After that, hopefully we can get a state champion from SE Ohio.

Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
I'm sure that people that have seen the burg play know how good they are and what they can do the polls dont mean anything. The only thing teams should care about is winning their last game because only one team can do that every year.
Re: 3rd Week Coaches Poll
Burg Grad 77,
That is the coach's responsibility, not a fan to send info out.
