Eastern has had a Jr. High program for a number of years now. They have done things the right way, and should really see soccer pick up in the next few years.

eastern has had a junior high team ran through the youth league for about three years...i believe they are trying to get a school affiliated team for the jr high this year, but they have tried this before so who knows if they will get it.
the high school team started the other day and are looking better than might be expected...there are some pretty talented kids on the team. some of the freshmen look really impressive so we will see what happens there...

This is great their starting a soccer program for the high school students. They may struggle for the first year or so since most of the upper classmen that are playing may have never played soccer and are just going to try it out. The freshman may the most experienced as they have played at the peewee and jr. high level. Good Luck this year Eagles!

By the way, who are some of the players that are trying out for the team?

i think some of the sophmore's played before in the same level.
only nine showed up saturday but others were working and i know many who will play that didn't show up.
freshmen: jason holloway, richey jackson, and kevin rogers.
sophmores: sam osborne and colby lykins.
juniors: eric holloway and steven mcmillan.
seniors: jessica richmond and katelynn williams.
others who are supposed to play that i know of are freshman zack bobst, sophmore tyler tackett, junior kole wheeler, and senior richie wagner. there are more but i do not know exactly who they are...

What is the latest word on Eastern Soccer?
Will they have a team this Fall? Do they have any upcoming scrimmages?

ok well the team played the scrimmage against clay tuesday.
they played well for a first game that is.
the final score was 4-2 with Clay being victorious.
The two eastern goals were scored by Jason Holloway and Kevin Rogers.
The eagles had quite a few opportunities to win but couldn't quite pull it off.
The goalkeeper for the eagles was Eric Hollway. He played well for his first high-school game. The eagles had 16 players there and one on vacation(the starting goalie, Kole Wheeler).
Here are their next few matches:
Aug. 14 @ New Boston 6:15 pm
Aug. 18 @ Jackson 7pm
Aug. 23 @ Ironton St. Joe 4pm
Aug. 25 @ Wheelersburg 7pm

I will update when I get ahold of a September schedule.

I guess not this month.
I passed by there and saw that they have small goalpost up.
I asked if they were going to get some official sized and they said as soon as they did they would have home games.
