Eastern Pike 08-09
How will the eagles do next season? I believe the squad has everyone back from last season, including Bryan Osborne who will likely be a 3rd year starter. However, last season was difficult for the young team as they finished only 4-16. Last season, guard play seemed to hamper the eagles all season (turn overs and inconsistant outside shooting). Will they do better? What can we expect? Where will they finish in the SOC?
Any thoughts and opinions?

Wow,
90 views and no comment. No body willing to throw me a bone?
I think Western will be tough again with Shanks, Smithson, and the point guard returning, but losing Kier will hurt them.
Symmes Valley has a very talented JV group back.
Green returns some solid talent, but yet to have a coach.
New Boston lost the farm. (Howell and Bowling)
Notre Dame lost alot of seniors, but have an excellent freshman class coming..
Clay shouldn't be very strong as their JV team was very weak and they lost their big boy.
East lost Mault, Dickerson, and the Collins kids but had an outstanding JV team moving up.
I'll still say the way that Wheeler, Lawhorn, and some of the boys are working that the Eagles will not be an easy "w" come next year!
What say you?

East lost Dickerson, Tyler Mault, and the Collins twins.
They should have their point guard back and the larger Mault kid...plus their JV team was very strong.

JV,
Are you picking Symmes Valley to finish ahead of Western and Eastern in the league?

Interesting JV,
I was told that Symmes Valley lost 4 of 5 starters. I know they had an outstanding JV team, but Symmes Valley was lucky to get by the Eagles both games this year. I see the Eagles with at least a split with them this year as it is always difficult to play at Symmes Valley.

Eastern did play Symmes tough last year......biggest problem for Symmes is not talent, it's coaching....

Symmes Valley never seems to be short on athletes. However, their coach was the coach of year in the SOC1 last year. Is that because they won?

Re: EASTERN PIKE 2008/2009
most likely......it usuallt happens like that. if the team wins the soc, they give hime coach of the year.....here's my question: If Carpenter was coach of the year in the SOC, why was Stapleton from New Boston the districts coach of the year???

Re: EASTERN PIKE 2008/2009
I see what you mean. Talent always makes coaches look good. Lack of talent always causes coaches to get often an undeserved amount of criticism from the "bleacher" coaches.
how did you feel our new coach out here done last season? Compared to Symmes Valley? WEstern? and some of the others>

give him time......now say after 4 seasons he's done nothing, then look for other choices......give him time for the players to adjust to his system and mentality....
Re: EASTERN PIKE 2008/2009
Not to change the subject, but what affect do you think the new Eastern Soccer team will have on the Basketball Program?
I think if some of the basketball players would give soccer a try, they would find that the soccer conditioning alone would make them better basketball players. The cutting, jumping and constant movement of soccer can better prepare them for basketball than a sport like cross country...Nothing against CC, but soccer is basically "basketball with your feet"!
What are your thoughts? Do you think any of the Eastern basketball players will give soccer a try?

Re: EASTERN PIKE 2008/2009
I hope some give it a shot. If soccer doesn't fly...then its time to look at football. I know it is expensive, but how many kids does the District have to lose before it finds a way???
Now, lets get bacl on track and discuss Eagle hoops!
