I think Mike Black was the better player on the team followed by Ryan Wilgus. Paul Davis underachieved so much....He could've dominated. I think he was like 3rd on that team in rebounding. The McCoy kid was pretty good also.

Ironton has benefitted from a lot of fine players over the years. My own personal favorite starting 5 would consist of:

PG - Mike Brown
SG - Ty Davis
SF - Dennis Gagai
PF - Dickie James
C - Dean Fitzpatrick

Other fine players that deserve mention include (in alphabetical order) Chris Barnes, Ty Barnes, Marquis Davis, Robin Fitzpatrick, Bub Fletcher, Clifton Howard, Damon Pringle, Buddy Quarles, Phil Rice, and Brigham Waginger. Those guys all together would make a pretty fair 15-man varsity. I know there are some good ones that I haven't mentioned, but most assuredly someone will correct me or take issue with some of my picks. That's the fun of this exercise.

Eastern Pike starting 5

1 Mark Cochenour- over 1800pts in career and took school to only regional final.
In 1984
2 Darren King- second in scoring and an overall great player in the great run of coach greg slone.

3 Matt Hines- Overall best post player in school history, great rebounder and work ethic out of this world.

4 Neil Leist/Zac Alexander- Similar in ways, great ballhadlers and both 1000pt scorers. Alexander all-time assist leader.

5. Dustten Alley- Schools all-time leading rebounder for boys. 1000pt scorer and only player in school history to start all varsity games from freshmen year to senior year

Bench- Many great players in schools history since 1964, excluding players that jumped ship to other county schools. Including Nance brothers (rick, pat) who share spot on 1000pt club and true eagles.

Sorry Benchcoach but I would have to put Marlene Stollings even on the boys list for Eastern Pike. ;-)

Didn't Brett and Brian Justice play for Peebles?

Watcher: pretty solid list for South Webster. I think Brett Roberts and Nick Aldridge are the only locks for the starting 5. After that, a case could be made for all of the following players:

Brigham Waginger
Michael Coriell
Justin Lower
Eric McClintic
Brady Rose
Jeremy Kaltenbach
Bryan Dyer
Jeff Bradley
Ty Roberts
Mike Rose

I'm sure there are some older guys who deserve mention, but that was before my time.*

fhsfan, you have to put Mike Black on Fairland list. He was the floor general from the 1996 Regional team.

I didn't consider Waginger because he is not a Webster kid, one and done. Only considering Bradley because he stuck around to coach after his one and done season.
Some other names: Mike McCoy, Jeff Lower, Todd Warnock, and many more.

I'd subsitute Randy Rosselot or Tim Copas for Blakely and I'd have to get Deron Breeze in there probably instead of Toole.

I think I might agree with you about Deron Breeze over Eric Toole - just because of a pure talent perspective. Im not sure Eric was any better than Brian Toole (93). Another good player who doesnt get a lot of respect was Eric Evilsizer (95). Roger Blakely was a 3 year starter on winning teams and one of the best athletes of all time from that school.

Luke Ogden was a good player but doesnt make this list. Josh Arey was a an all-around great player but in no way can be placed ahead of Brian and Brett Justice (82) who starred on back to back (I believe) undefeated SHL and regular seasons.
Based on Statistics and Honors Micheal Cheesbro would have to be at least considered = 2nd team all state.

Larry Caudill (91) was one hell of an athlete and played 4 years at Rio.
