Point Pleasant (WV) claims AA softball crown
Just thought i'd post this for those on here who we played from Ohio this season.
Junior Tessa Wyant clubbed a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to put Point ahead over Scott in the double-elimination tournament in Vienna, West Virginia. Point beat Scott and Shady Spring yesterday to put themselves the in the winner's bracket.
Wyant, Alissa Darst, Emily Jones, and Anna Sommer were all named to the All-Tournament team.
Point finished the season on a 14 game winning streak under interim head coach B.J. Grady, who was undefeated as a head coach in that stretch. They finish the season 31-8 and claim our second state championship in softball.

Are you referring to Coach Dewhurst that was affiliated with Hannan High boys basketball at one time?

Yes, same Coach Dewhurst.
Danny was relieved of his coaching/teaching duties with a few weeks left in the regular season.

The future looks bright , Kaci Riffle , 6th or 7th grader , who lives up there is one of the best 12u pitchers in the entire ohio/WV/Ky area. She could contribute next year if rules allowed --Is WV dumb like ohio or more progressive like ky when it comes to jr high kids playing up ? MD

Kaci is a 7th grader right now and yes, West Virginia is just like Ohio, only four years of eligibility. Kaci's older sister played softball for Point and her brother was a great sprinter, state champion long jumper, and great football player (went to University of Charleston on a football scholarship) so she comes from a pretty darn good athletic family.
We're excited for her and she'll walk in at a good time, right as this group graduates.

Having just got back from a 12u tourney in columbus where 2 "top ten " ranked teams were playing (both beat us) , The lady lasers gold 11u (they went 62-0 last year) and the Ohio Classics were ranked something like 5th and 7th . I'd say Mountain Thunder with Kaci in the circle is better than either one of those. MD
