Re: 2008-2009 Oak Hill Schedule
Maybe he is the best. We will see this year. His talent pool is huge. His depth is great. His tourney route is not the toughest. We will find out alot this year. To me with the talent, not qualifying for state would be a total failure. I bet Kreisher (spelling) could get the job done!
Re: 2008-2009 Oak Hill Schedule
Some interesting reading here. I would have to agree that Doug Hale is a very good coach and seems to get the most out of the talent that he has had over the years. Any player and parents of those players would feel fortunate to have someone like him coach their child. It appears though, that most of the real talent came into the high school ranks with the talent and abilities that they displayed thoughout their career (taking in consideration that most will continue to improve naturally with maturity). Who are some of the Oak Hill girls that you would consider average to below average talentwise as freshmen that Doug may have developed into very good or great ballplayers by their senior year?
Re: 2008-2009 Oak Hill Schedule
I believe Doug to be a great coach as well. I just know for fact that girls from outside the district have indirectly push some girls who could have been great players away. I dont blame a parent wanting their kid to play for the best coach. Again Doug is a great coach and has done wonders.

so it sounds like what you are saying is that maybe some friendships were made by the kids, and kids being kids, they try to be around each other more if they get along. people on here make it sound like coach's are making calls and texting and buying kids new cars to come play for oak hill. funny.
also, if a girl outside the district pushes another girl outside the district to wanna play at oak hill, who cares?
maybe they have a case of poison OAK.

Re: 2008-2009 Oak Hill Schedule
First of all, Doug Hale does seem to be an amazing coach who gets the best out of his girls. I have only followed Oak Hill games on the radio or here for the most part, but the games I have seen in person I think that the players deserve a lot of the credit. He seems to have talented girls who have worked to be good by the time they play for him. Like I already said I think he brings out the best in them, but if you look back at the successful seasons he had an above average team to start with, so does this change how good of a coach he appears to be?
Good luck this season ladies!!

whythehale,
It shows that he has a great PROGRAM. If you have a great program starting from junior high, then they should be ready for varsity ball by the time they reach varsity basketball. Not many programs have that luxury, but the Lady Oaks do. So there you have to give a hats off to Coach Hale and the rest his staff.

Wow. This thread has gotten extremly out of hand. wolley, I understand what your saying about some girls not playing because of some transfers and agree, although I dont think its a bad thing that girls want to move here and play for Coach Hale. Hes a great coach and if I were a girl in So. Ohio I and had a future in basketball I would want the coach that would help me to the top and in this case, that would be Doug.

Re: 2008-2009 Oak Hill Schedule
Scholly? 5 times in 3 lines. Pretty impressive
Alyssa Hammond is playing for Marshall.
Anna Ramey just graduated from Shawnee.
However hard it may be for some to understand, our girls do not just play basketball. Keisa Davis and Lacey Adkins, both player of the year in the SOC during their time at Oak Hill, both chose different routes. Keisa is at OSU in pre-med, Lacey is at OU with a great oppurtunity to travel abroad and learn some incredible things. Whitney as well did not quit, she just chose to stick with education.
And if you are wondering, yes all of these girls were on scholly. Just not for sports. Do you think that Keisa, Lacey and Whitney could not have made it just like all of those others? Absolutely they could have played at the next level.

oak a holic stated that if they wanted a future in basketball then Doug should be the coach. This is because he gets the most out of his players. If they want to take it further and to the next level it is definitely available because of what they are able to accomplish while at Oak Hill

why do teams have coach's then? im sure every school in ohio could use the extra money if we dont need any coach's. btw its scholarship.

Re: 2008-2009 Oak Hill Schedule
AAU BALL IS WHERE THE SCHOLLYS ARE GOTTEN, THAT'S WHERE THE EXPOSURE IS. COLLEGE SCOUTS COULD GIVE A HOOT LESS ABOUT OAK HILL OR ANYONE PLAYING DIV. 4 SCHOOLS AND GETTING A TRUE READ ON TALENT. DOUG IS A DECENT COACH THERE ARE WORSE AND THERE IS BETTER. BUT YOU ARE FOOLING YOURSELF IF ANYBODY THINKS HE HAS CONNECTIONS WITH TENNESSEE OR U CONN OR OSU ETC.. WV THUNDER GOT HAMMOND HER SCHOLARSHIP, NOT DOUG. BY THE WAY YOU SHOULD WIN IT ALL, GOOD LUCK. IF YA DON'T BOY THAT LOOKS BAD. BUZZY COULD COACH THIS TEAM AND WIN, NO PUN INTENDED. LOL I JUST WONDER IN FOUR YEARS WHEN DOUG LEAVES, (AFTER HIS GIRL IS DONE), WHAT WILL BE LEFT WHEN ALL OF THE TRANSFERS THAT HAVE COME AND GONE, AND ALL OF THE LOCAL GIRLS THAT LOST INTEREST OR DIDN'T PLAY BECAUSE OF THE TRANSFERS. WHAT WILL BE LEFT OF THE PROGRAM??
