Jaylen Prater, an 8th grade boy from Vinton County won the DII/III 100m dash and finished 4th in the shot put. Official results aren't up yet on their website.

Hey fellas: haven't been on in a while but just to let you know that Greg Bender from Coal Grove...yes..went to the state meet and he won the shot put with a throw of 51' 6" and he actually beat the D1 schools. He also placed 2nd in High Jump with 5'8" which beat the OVC record which was 5' even and beat the D1 schools and what really is crazy is that he didn't high jump all year!!! He also placed 2nd in discus and the boy who beat him only won by a few feet!!! I am always talkin about this kid and now he is really starting to shine!!! He is really the best all around athlete in this area and now I can say the best all around athlete in the state!!!!

I am sure that he is going to Nationals and to Charleston in June..I am excited to see how he does against kids across the country!!! I will keep everyone posted of his success...

Congratulations Greg Bender!!!! Greg is also an excellent student and young man. I am sure you will hear more from Greg over the next 4 years in his high school career.
